Here is what we did with our dog. Get a small crate that is just big enough for you dog. I put our dog in the crate almost all day at first. i took her out about every hour or two hours and took her straight outside. Once she peed i praised her and brought her inside and let her run around a few minutes then put her back in the cage. Each day i let her out of the cage a little longer. it didn't take long at all and she understood to pee outside and she slept in the cage at night.

This is very good advice, Ravin. I knew the crate was the way to go but it has been a long time since I have had pups. This method reinforces praise for good behavior and that is what the pup needs to learn. I am glad you posted this response as I know it will help greatly.

You might try the puppy pads. I have heard that those can work. I have the same problem wit my dog though. You should let me know if you get any good advice.

First of all, be patient. He is a puppy. Humans don't graduate from diapers in a day. I think there is a method whereby you "crate" the puppy at certain times, like may be at night. Do you know what he was doing before you got him. I mean if he was a shelter dog, how were his habits there? I think it will just take time and proper techniques of training and you can find that information on the Internet. Good luck.

ahh he sounds so cute. How long have you had him for? Don't give up. It can be discouraging. Try to take him outside everycouple of hours. tell him he cant go there and show him where he can go. tell him no.
Reward him if he dose good.

We have a Chihuahua and A Chihuahua X Mini Daschund and they just had 6 puppies last week.
We gate our dogs in the entry way in my house its pretty big about 20 feet long 3 - 4 feet wide. but i would reccomend Crate Training your puppy. We use pee pads just incase they have an accident but we have a pee post outside, which has pherimones that attract the dog to the post and they know its okay to go there it has seemed to work better than anything else we have tried. Now our dogs will attempt to let us know they have to go and if we arent home they use the pad, i know that pad training dogs isnt nessesarly good... but i would rather they go on the pad then the floor when we arent home.

Awwww sounds so cute! Best way is to take him outside plenty, especially right after he has woken up, or after he has had something to eat or drink. Plenty of praise when he does go. Boys i think are meant to pick it up quicker than girls, so he should get it soon. Keep your eye on him, and if he looks like he is going to do something in the house shout "NO" very loudly, and make a loud noise to scare/distract him. He should stop what he is doing, and then you need to quickly put him outside, and praise him and give him a treat when he eventually goes in the correct place. He wont like the loud noise, and should hopefully associate "going inside" with bad, and "going outside" with good =) good luck!
