or do you use fast food. I am lazy this week. My son is in London with his Father. So I am takeing the week of from cooking. I use fast food that I heat with the microwave. Now, that is not healthy food, I know that. But for once, I like to take the time of from the kitchen. How, about you, would you cook for your self when the rest of the family are away from home.

No, I never cook for myself when I am alone. At first it seems like a blessing but after a couple of days, it does tend to get difficult as home cooked as always better in taste and the pocket. Usually on Saturdays I am alone throughout the day and I’ll definitely not cook anything. A pack of instant noodles or if pocket permits, some yummy junk food from a takeaway is just fine for me. but very recently my hubby had gone out of town for a week and it being the summer vacation for my son, he had gone to visit my parents so I was all alone for a week and it was such a problem in deciding what to eat! I did not want to cook or rather could not really cook in such small quantity, instant noodles had lost its charm and takeaways are expensive too! Anyway I managed somehow.

I do not use takeaways, I buy some finnished food from the freezer and heat it up with my micorwave. It is vary food, and I get all the energy I need for it. I bought 5 of those for under 100 sek and I consider that cheap. I have two more days where I am eating alone, my son will be home on friday and then I have to start cook again.

if i am all by myself, i seldom cook too. sometimes i just buy bread and it that, or drink coffee. but if i really feel like eating i would do the same thing as you did, just go at fasfood and eat what's offered there... lol... cooking for myself only does not only make me lazy but sometimes i think it would be a waste of gas, as i will cook very few only. heating leftover would be okay though .

Yes, jayrene, you got me...saving electricity never thought aboutit, but so right. Why spend money on something when you do only one meal...and not mentioned the dishes..so waste...when you can warm some easy fast food, and then put the rest in the trasch can...that gives more time for surfing4cash...

Since I am single and live alone, I try to get in the habit of cooking meals for myself. Meals that are still good even if I have leftovers two days later. It would be too easy for me to get in the habit of eating fast food, or microwave dinners. Those are fine on occasion, but I'd like to stick to healthy food as much as possible.

Hi there AmbiePam, I guess I have to stick with the cooking meals from scratch the day I will be alone on a daily bases. But then it will be different, since you are getting use being on your own, and have no one els to do things for. I am waiting for that time, but it will be long before then. I do not think my son has any intention of leaving yet.

I love to cook. It relaxes me. So I usually do cook even if it's just for myself. I was like this ever since I started cooking. I think I was probably the only teenager that when being grounded for the day , would end up cooking a whole meal LOL While other kids would probably make a sandwich I was in the kitchen making chicken fricassee LOL

I will certainely not cook when my family is out. I would try and survive myself on the fast food and other junk. In case of emergency, microwave cooking would be preferred. Also, I would like to consume a lot of raw fruits as a part of my meal.

If i am not lazy or sick, i prefer to cook my own meal. When i was still single, i always cook my own meal. It's more hygenic and i can eat whatever i want to eat..Besides that, it's more cheaper. I no need to spend more money into food, because ready made food cost more. The only time that i eat outside, is when we have family outing or having to celebrate special functions...

I also like cooking, cooking from scratch. I do not like fast food and do not eat it to often. But, this week I work offline three days of the week. And while my son is away I like to enjoy my self being alone...I actually like to be alone once a while. Then I felt, not spending cooking time in the kitchen is not enjoyble when I finally are on my own. I actually enjoy eating some fast food by my self, since I can eat what I like. My son do not eat everything, and if I should eat stuff I like, I have to cook two different meals...that I do not have the time for.
That is the reason for my week and fast food, and being lazy.

I bought five different fast food to heat in the microwave, but yet I have no idea wich one I will eat to day. Anyway, which one it will be...all of them are in my favorite taste. My son is in London and having trouble with what he will eat...I guess it has been mcdonalds every day his been there...it is so tricky to get him a proper meal that he enjoy. But now that is not my problem, it is his father.

I live alone and like many people who live alone I don't bother cooking a big sitdown meal for myself, I love takes away food or restaurant food, I would call myself a picker when I am home, I just eat when I feel like something to eat, not good I know...

long time no seen, hi there lilaclady. Yesterday my daughter called me up and said she should come for a short visit, I asked her if she could bring me some stuff and to get me an amarican sallad from my favorite restuarant. I now, live in the country side, and we do not have any kind of stuff like restaurantes or shops near by. And I do not have a driver license...therefore, I do not have meals like that to often. It was a nice meal having al alone.
When I followed my son to the train, I got my self finnished meals to use in the microwave...easy, no dishes, but tasty and healthy to.

No, I don't like to cook when I'm alone, I only like to cook for somebody more than I cook for myself. Two reason, I don't really mind what to eat when I'm alone and I like to hear compliment when I cook for somebody ^_^ or I like to eat some instant food or order take away.

When I am alone, I usually don't cook. It is just me who is eating and I am not a picky eater anyway. Sometimes, I eat fast food. Other times, I eat 4 slices of bread with peanut butter or egg. Then for my dessert, I usually eat a banana or apple. It is no fun to cook and eat good food by ourself.

kalaga, even though I am lazy and eat fast food, I actually eat healthy, since you can get fast food cooked by healthy stuff. I am using weithg watchers fast food. from the freezer. And I think their food are really healthy. But of course, no meal is like home cooked meal done from the scratch. I just like being lazy for once.

i really dont like fast food. i used to love it as a kid. but i have grown a disliking for it through a new knowledge of healthy foods. eating healthy doesnt always have to be expensive. i find that i am more energized and i feel better about myself when i eat healthily. i like cooking, and i do not always have the most time to do so. thus i prepare food ahead of time, and eat quick things that are time efficient and healthy, such as a quick salad.

Well, Lizann, I try to think healthy when it comes to food. I need to eat healthy. I normaly do cooking from scratch, that means I do not use finnished or fast food. So when I this time god alone, and work about 8 hours almost every day, I like to have my day of from work a free day from every thing. Just take this day for my self and enjoy things I like to do. Therefore This week I am lazy and only have fast food in my freezer...I like to be strict, however some times you have to enjoy your self to.

hi anetteh
cooking for myself when i am alone at home......yes i generally do because i love to cook food....as i am a graduate in culinary it becomes mandatory for me to cook food when i am alone at home.....this helps me in polishing my own skills and also gives me chance to experiment of different food......but yes sometimes when i am too tired i also oder food from outside as my brains stop working after a tiring day at work......but i generally prefer to cook food rather than ordering it from outside......

I am alone for two more days, And I work today, this wensday. So I am lazy today to...I eat my fast food at work today. But there I like to have my lunch alone. I need som time where it is silence...but some of my co - workers speak all the time. So I try to have my lunch alone. I like to lie down and take a few minutes rest.
Tomorrow I am alone, and I am going to cook something to eat on friday, when I work the hole day and when my son come home we finally will have dinner together again.

I think there was a time that I survived simply by having noodles during lunch time and take outs at night. I would rather relax in front of the TV than tire myself out preparing a decent meal when I will be the only one to eat it anyway hehehe. I think i appreciate being able to relax more.

HI ANETEH, I live alone & i cook something every day or warm up what i have alredy cooked. I have friends that tell me all the time i wouldn't cook like u do if i was alone. I like fast foods every once in awhile but i think they are expensive to eat there all the time. Of course cooking is expensive to. I could probably eat out as cheap or cheaper than what i spend on groceries but i like good ol' southern cooking.

But of course, why spend so much time in the kitchen to make a meal for one person. I would not do that...but I need to eat, therefore, I take the easy way out, and use my microwave...there are some god finished meals you can eat.
Yesterday my daughter came for a visit, so I asked her to get me a amarican sallad from my favorite restuarant.

Hi Anette. I like to cook for myself. I make simple meals because I don't believe in spending half a day in the kitchen. Sometimes when I don't feel like cooking I just eat fruit or vegetables. My only sin is the Chinese instant noodles soup. You put the noodles and spices into a bowl and just add boiling water. The meal is ready in 5 minutes.
