Does the meaning of your name really reflect in your character?

I was once told that the selection of names for a child should not be taken lightly. as the child may grow up reflecting the meaning of their name(s).
Damian for example I was told means Devil. Ha ha ha.... Now if there were a set of guys who reflected the meaning of their names it was at least two Damians that I knew.
Boy were those guys trouble. Now that is one name I'll not even think of giving my child lest what they say is true.
Do you reflect te meaning of your name in any way?
Do you pay keen attention to the names you choose for your child(ren)?

The one about Damian is funny.:P
Well I am not too sure if the name one gives his or her child really does have something to do with the traits they show as they grow up. My real name means "A beautiful painting" *cheesy smile* ..hehe..
But I can't really say if its true or not, although I hope it is.. :P.
1 thing I do know, when choosing a name for ones child we must think about the nicknames that they may get as they grow up, as it may cause trauma to the child.
Luckily my name is short and not much could be made from it. But I know some really nasty nicknames some kids had in high school.
Happy myLotting! :)

I've gone into shock! I have a nephew called Daemon which is probably the same thing. I dod not know this but he has turned out really well so I will not tell my sister. I did take care in choosing my children's manes but it was hard for my husband and I to agree on the names.

Actually, not so much attention on it.Parents prepare a peoper name for their child with a special meaning. It works or not,it carries the hope from their parent or grand-parents gerneration. No one can determine a child's charater just by his name.

I don7t really think so. Because a lot of time, when parents give names to their children, they add their hope to the children in the name, so a name doesn't always represent a person's character, I think it a lot times express parents hopes.
