when we are still on school i think all of us know how to sing our national anthem, we memorized it, we can sing it very well..but as we become older sometimes we tend to forget some of its lines...it sometimes happens to me that when i try to sing it one time and my husband hears me singing it, he told me that i'm missing some lines...huh! can't believe it! what a shame...:-(
how about you? do you still memorize your national anthem and can still sing it very well?
thanks and have a nice day! :-)

BUt when the music is being played, i guess i should be able to sing at least some parts of it, though forgetting the lyrics as well.. hehe ^_^ BUt i have really forgotten about my country's pledge.. lol =D It's been almost 10years or so since i last sing my national anthem and saying of the pledge.. haha

This is an interesting question. I can sing my national anthem. I used to sing it everyday at the time of leaving school when I was a kid. I have also sung it many times for other mettings. I am not good at pronouncing all the words corectly in the national anthem, but I can kind of sing it. Our national anthem is written in a language whcih I am not faimilar with.

I think that I could sing it but only if I was singing it with someone else and had some time to think about the lyrics and to try to remember them. I know that while I was in school the teachers listened to the class singing and thought that everyone was getting the words mixed up or just humming! When they asked their classes to write down the lyrics everyone did simply awful! No one got the lyrics right not even the smartest students!
I remember my mom use to get the words wrong to the Lord's Prayer also.

yes absolutely! i can sing it completely. When we were having our class, our professor surprised us with a quiz wherein we must write the whole lyrics of our national anthem. Fortunately, i get to pass that quiz with one mistake!Ü

Yes, I can still memorize the national anthem but seldom does I sing it, only when there are occasions like in programs where second part is the singing of the NAtional Anthem. I can also sing some lines of it in English and Spanish Version.
And well, I should not forget the NAtional Anthem because I can even sing the NAtional Anthem of the United States and France

Hi ckyera, it is the same here a while ago. After a long period I left school when i had to sing the national anthem for the first time, I found myself in a shameful condition. I saw that I could not remember even all the lines let alone all the words properly. It was such an awful condition that after returning home I memorized it word by word and promised never to forget again. Now that I have to sing it often, there is no chance of being in such a situation again. Moreover, my children also sing it as now they are in school.
Once I saw a TV programme where pedestrians were selected randomly and were requested to sing the national anthem. The result - I could not believe. Not a single person know even a few lines correctly. What a shame for the nation. Sometimes I think it should be made compulsory to sing it periodically. But the very moment a thought comes to mind making it compulsory will have no effect, there are so many laws and rules that are not observed strictly. Rather it is a feeling that should come within. We must feel proud to be citizen of the country where we are born, where we live and where we pass our lives through generations (most of the time).
Happy lotting

hi arkadeb!
yes i think, most of us, or most of the citizens of a certain country tend to forget their national anthem coz it was taking for granted...sometimes we are just too confident about it or sometimes we think that it has no use at all...but i think it would be great if all of us know by heart our national anthem...
your story about the pedestrians chosen randomly to sing the national anthem...hehehe i think if i am one of them, maybe i am also one of the one who will be on shame... but i swear...i can sing it now...provided its not acapella...hehehe...
maybe people are just to busy...that's why...
thanks for sharing!

Yes, of course I do. I still remember my national anthem. I'm actually surprised to have known that you forgot some of the lines. Anyway, it's good that you realize it. It means you do care about your country and your national anthem. I can only suggest that you should memorize it again. It won't take long, won't it? Don't wait until your children ask you to sing along and they find that you miss some of the lines. He.. he.. Cheers!

Of course, because I have alreadly sung it countless times since I was a child, I can't forget it. Although I don't sing the national anthem very often, but when I sing, I think I can sing it right, actually the tune is very simple.
have a nice day, friend.

thanks!
