Conservatives rightfully get labeled legislating morality in doing so are enforcing their wills. Yet are conservatives actually enforcing their wills on you? Take for instance abortion unless you actually have or are planning to have an abortion conservatives are not enforcing their will on you. Chances are if you are reading this discussion you are not homosexual, now if you are yes you are be burden by someone else's morality, but if you are heterosexual you are not being burden. On the other hand there is a group that believe that it is their duty to enforce their will, their morality on the vast majority and this group is liberals. Let us examine a couple of issue and see who is enforcing who's will and morality on you. Taxation, conservatives say that all the fruits of your labor is yours and government gets whatever you allow them to attain. On the other hand liberals believe that all the fruits of your labor belongs to government and what government lets you keep, is what you will receive for your labor. Transportation, to conservative what you drive is you business, it will be your money to purchase fuel. Liberals on the other hand believes that you can drive what ever government deems acceptable for you to drive. Firearms, to conservatives you have a right to firearms for what ever reason you want to own them as long as you use them responsible. Liberals on the other hand do not believe that you have a right to own firearms. Now liberals might allow you to own firearms but only under their rules and those rules might change. Union membership, to conservatives union membership in the work place should be an individual case. Liberals on the other hand in 51% of the work place wants to be unionized then the other 49% must also be unionized against their will. So back to my original question who enforces who's will on you?

Let's get rid of the labels "conservative" and "liberal" for a moment. In this country, what the majority of the people want should be what becomes law. Unfortunately, the time has come when it is the minority of people (not minority people, mind you) who is enforcing its will on the majority. This should not be. The opposite needs to be the case once again.

I disagree. That is what is called mob rule. Historically the majority is almost always wrong. The very intelligent and educated people are the minority. The people providing jobs for working Americans are the minority. Doctors are the minority. Right now, the plurality in this country (40%) don't even pay federal income taxes because of this ridiculous mob rule crap.

It is the liberals who try to force their will on everyone else. Whether it be smoking, expressing your religion, standing up for your country or your beliefs... or whatever the case may be... it is the liberals who want to ban, deny, regulate, and control every aspect of our lives. It is the liberals who are the fascists... not conservatives.

The point is that absolute freedom leads to anarchy so everyone has to trade off some of his freedom to have something back from the government. Some of your statements are a little bit taken to the extremes but anyway i see your point, we cannot have absolute freedom, if we had that we would be free to kill people or to steal things. We should have a balance of rights and rules that tend to maximize the outcome for the whole society. To make an example on the transportations, assuming the oil resources are limited and that every drop used for something superfluous is a drop less that we will have in the future to do necessary things, maybe a stricter regulation on fuel standards of vehicles is not so absurd. and i can make many other examples. My point is it is ok to have rules and taxes if there is a rational reason behind them.
