The discussions on the topic Jesus Christ here on MyLot are interesting and usually center on what man-made rules say about such and such. We were programmed to base spiritual life on religious or denominational man-made rules.
Pretty much like what men did in Jesus' day. They were so religious and yet their hearts were really far from God (Matt.15), especially the bible experts. Jesus says, as long as we stick, even to a small measure, to any man-made teaching (denominational "biblical" doctrines, for instance), our hearts will be far away from God, though our lips claim Christianity.
"It's no use to worship me as long as they teach man-made rules like they were part of my teachings," says Jesus in Matt. 15. And he was referring to strict bible believers here.
I don't care how good or spiritual or biblical your Sunday worship is. As long as they're based on denominational (different church groups with different "biblical" doctrines) teachings, they're worthless.
Jesus came here to give us LIFE, his life for us to live abundantly, not set up denominations.

There are often political reasons why denominational churches are set up, for example the church of England exists because King Henry VIII wanted a divorce but the catholic church would not allow it. So he sent his soldiers to burn down all the monasteries and set up a new church. So I agree with you it has nothing to do with god when new denominations are set up it's man made thing and does divert from the real point of Christianity.
