In life anything can happen to us to cause handicapped. hearing disabilities may come at any time in a person life, and hearing disabilities vary widely some are born with no hearing, while others lose it gradually over time.
According to study whether a person has a memory of sound can make a different in the way they experience language, including written language. Do not be surprise if a individual who is deaf or hard hearing uses words differently. Deaf and hard of hearing people communicate in different ways. I strongly believe that when one looses one of their senses then the other always increase in strength.

when communicating with deaf or deaf-to-be people i will use two ways:
first, scream very loud which is of better effect but always disturbing other people;
second i will make some gestures though i don't systematically learn and will lead to a lot of misunderstandings.

I took ASL(American Sign Language) and to be honest it is a not so useful skill, but it is nice to know for these situations. I also had a deaf teacher,so we communicated in many ways.
One way is we would just get a piece of paper, and just write out what we want to say. Another way we would just sign to each other, if I didn't know a sign he would just spell it out using the alphabet. The last way is we would just use gestures to communicate, there are probably more ways but this is how I did.
