I guess I am old fashioned in a way because I love collecting and using ink or fountain pens. Even today, there are lots of pens available, some are collectors types and very expensive. There are many people interested in collecting them, just look at E-Bay. I love to use all kinds of different colors of ink. I love to be able to choose the point I write with, whether it be fine, medium or broad. There are many other brands than Parker nowadays, including the famous and expensive Mont Blanc. When you become a conniseur of these high-end pens, you will become picky as to which ones you buy and use because they all have a particular feel and touch when you write with them. I prefer the ones that write as smooth as butter but, of course, those are the higher end of the higher ends.

You know, fountain pens were popular in the 1920's, 1930's etc. I have a fountain pen that used to belong to my grandmother. I do not use it but just keep it in her memory. It is kind of what got me started using fountain pens back in the 1970s. At that time there were still such things as stationary stores. I remember going to several places to try to find a fountain pen and finally ended up with what is now the ugliest pen in my collection, a plain grey Cross fountain pen with a fine nib. Nowadays, I don't really like writing with a fine nib and I think the grey color is more suited for a man even though it is a slim model, which is suited better for the smaller hand of a woman. It is interesting and funny how my taste in pens has evolved over the years. Now I prefer the real silver pens. I prefer a broad nib as opposed to a fine nib. I still like all the different colors of ink that you can get. My favorite color is magenta. I think that writing with a fountain pen is an art. I always wished I could draw or paint but I think being able to successfully use a fountain pen is an art in itself!

I use ink pens for school stuffs, drawing, they are more practical because you just have to refill them. They also have different points or line weights so it's more okay for me. It's the cleaning part that takes a lot of time.

Its not really as a necessity but, if I do get to use one, why not?
I use to really want to own one, it made me feel like I'm doing something very important and got me feeling sophisticated as well (^_^")
Now-a-days, I'd use anything that I could get my hands on, as long as its black. I would really like to use black ink for anything that I work on, unless I really have to use other colors to organize things, black would be the color that I use for almost anything.

Oh, I was thinking that you were referring to ball point pens. Well, I use ball point pens often because Im still in school and disposable pens that one would not be disappointed about when and if they ever get lost are preferable. Even my Parker Pen is a ball point pen. Its was just a gift though and it has my name engraved on it. I think I already lost it somewhere, I dont see it anymore these days..
Well, Ive always wanted to have one of those feather quill pens. They just look so cool and would change the way you write. I would love to have an ink pen as well. Maybe Ill get one after I graduate. For signing contracts, official documents and such.

Myself, personally I have never used an ink pen... I've always used a roller ball and maybe a gel. Honestly I've never been that picky enough to care LOL. I would think that those who are into caligraphy though would be very interested in the preservation of and the use of traditional ink pens. I would think it would be very hard to lay out beautiful script with a Bic Medium ball LOL
