My views have gradually picked up on my articles and my lenses. I started about a year ago. I am just now getting a following. For a full year I have made $15.00.

Since you mentioned 'lenses' I'm guessing your writing on Squidoo. I did that for a time while doing some research but never earned anything there - I do have a friend here on mylot that's doing ok there but she has a big following and works at it. I've made $75 in a year at Associated Content with 30 some articles there.
I think a big factor depends on what you write about. Hot topics are going to draw more traffic than something no one is interested in. Others who posted prior to me gave some good tips though to promote what you have written.

Try twitter, Facebook and a blog. Write for other sites also and link between articles.
Always sibmit your site to squidu for critique, ask your friends to visit your lenses. write about related subjects so that when a person visits your site, they have the pontential to visit all your other pages. even on other websites.
DOnt forget to submit lenses that you thing are absolutely great to DIGG and DELICIOUS. and submit your URL to major search engines. Each time you create a lens, blog about it.
