The Worst Case of Swine Flu in Southeast Asia

Philippines

I was alarmed when a TV program announced that Philippines has the worst case of swine flu in Southeast Asia. It is not yet pandemic but it will soon if not prevented. It was reported that there are 77 confirmed patients with the Influenza A. Classes were suspended. Education is then affected. I just hope that soon this will be gone. I don't want more deaths because of this. May the spread be prevented.

I feel ya. It's different when you're just reading about it + just seeing the news on TV and you know that it's already here in our country. The numbers just increase everyday, it's scary.

I agree that it is alarming but there is a medicine for this. I watched the morning news that Novartis developed a vaccine for swine flu. The question is it is really affordable for us. The rich people are the one who can avail the price of it. We need to protect ourselves and boost our immune system to fight the virus.

You are right, bro. And if this epidemic doesn't stop, then all hell will break loose. I hope the cure will come fast, like getting some kind of injection to prevent it from running around the body system; something like that. There have been a few cases in my country too; and that's quite worrying. But I pity those victims for having to go through this all.

Yeah very troubling that after several weeks being clean from it then all of a sudden we are flooded with cases of it. Most victims are those that came from abroad I am just worried if it starts to spread amongst us. Especially those in the slum area that would be catastrophic since you can just imagine how close their houses are to each other and infection might spread easily if one of the residents there get the virus.

Hi, Singapore will probably overtake Philippines as country in Asia with worst cases of swine flu. During the June holidays, many parents and children go for their holidays, and likely to catch the flu somewhere. Being an open economy where travellers fly everywhere, and transit in Singapore, there is no way to keep the flu out. Just hope everyone recovers.

Alarming, yes it is. I never thought that it would reach to 77. This is something not to be ignored. I believe that aside from WHO doing its job to help stop the spread of disease, we in our country, the government especially, should get up and do their job and do something. We have the worst case in southeast asia. We need to confront the problem. It is time to join our hands together and educate the masses on the management of this case.

It really scared me a lot since I have two little children, and my eldest now is going to school everyday. Im scared to the fact that we know the cost of hospitalization here in the philippines are too expensive, that only rich people can avail the best medication for themselves. Rich people are the one who spread this disease, why does we also suffer with it, that they like to go to another country who has this case. Why did they want to spread the disease here, they all know that this country are too poor to have disease like that. I guess I have to blame this people who are very inconsiderate. They didn't care to other people's benefits.

Are you sure about this news? I really hope you are mistaken because that would be frightening. Many school has already suspended their classes because some of their student was infected by swine flu and was treated with the right medicine accordingly. I also pray hard that it may be over soon.
