One of my dreams is to go to Scotland.

I love all things Scottish. I especially love all things Highlander. If I could, I'd wear the Great Kilt as daily wear. I'd order haggis in a can, if I could afford it. I'd have shortbread all of the time, if I could. I love the bagpipes (though I can't play). I love Scottish fairy tales (I'm a storyteller). Yes, I love the Scots. But, I've never been to Scotland. If I could afford it, I'd leave right now, and go. Does anyone have any stories about Scotland, especially the Highlands, that you would care to share? Are you Scottish? Do you live there? If you live elsewhere, whether you are of Scottish heritage or not, have you been there? If you haven't, do you share in this dream? Tell me your tales. Maybe someday, I'll discuss some of the fairy tales I love, but that's not what I mean. Share with me your Scottish travel tales. I'd love to read them. (Gosh, I wish I could be there.)

We do have people on here from Scotland, though two of my favorites are gone. :-( I went to Scotland in 1979 and visited Edinburgh mostly. I also visited a friend in Glasgow and her parents gave me and the two friends I was with a nice driving tour of the highlands. I mostly remember Edinburgh castle, the highlands and an incident at the youth hostel in Edinburgh. The hostels in Britain require the guests to perform some kind of a duty, clear the tables, do dishes, whatever. My friends and I were assigned to do some of the dinner dishes. When we showed up to do them, some other people were doing them already. So we asked them to do half and said that we would do the other half. We came back later and they had left ALL of them for us. Ugh.

I am in Australia and I have done my family tree and I have a couple of lines that are from Scotland..i am not a traveller but I must admit I have a soft spot for Scotland, to me it seems to be a very peaceful place, I wouldn't mind going there to continue my family tree.
