Milk has been used from time immemorial as a sole food for infants and as a supplement to the diets of children and adults. Milk is considered to be almost a complete food. Every day we eat number of food items like fruits, vegetables, cereals, meat and sweets and we are not sure whether we are taking a balanced food or not. In these circumstances, it is advised to drink milk before going to bed for sound sleep and also to overcome malnutrition effects. Usually, I drink a cup of hot milk with sugar before retiring to bed and it helped me lot. Do you drink milk before retiring to bed? please respond.

I used to drink milk before retiring to bed. I know that milk is good for health. It is important for infants, children and adults. But now I drink coffee more often than drink milk. Even before retiring for bed, I drink coffee.

I was also drinking coffee before retiring to bed mixed with one spoon of brandy to it to be free from sore throat. This I have continued for almost 10 years. Now I have stopped mixing brandy instead I mix honey. Thanks for your response.

No. I drink water. Milk gives me flem in the back of my throat. I couldn't sleep with my airway blocked like that. Some people probably don't have that problem but I do.

Hello,
No, I usually have a tall glass of water though and then I empty the ol' bladder and head to bed. I see water as a great liquid to even out my body and keep my throat moist throughout the night, which is kind of weird. I'm not much of the milk drinker though I may have a bit with cereal. That's pretty cool that you drink it though.

I love milk but I only drink it cold. I believe we should all drink some quantity but I don't know of any benefit to drink it before bedtime. I guess if you do so then it becomes a habit that becomes a requirement. Remember, we are the only mammals that continue to drink milk into adulthood. Sure our pets do but we give it to them. Of course we have studies that give the pros and cons of drinking milk.

Hi there!
I drink milk before going to bed but not regularly. Only about twice a week on the average. I drink milk regularly in the morning though, as part of my daily breakfast. I love its taste even though I know some people who says it tastes bitter but not me. I love its taste and I find it really filling.

Hi Doctor. Yes, I certainly agree with you about the nutritional value of drinking milk. I do drink milk sometimes, in the afternoons, and in the evenings. As you said, I should remember to have a cup before going to bed too. That would certainly be very good for the health.
Thank you for reminding !

I know a lot of people who drink milk before going to bed. Everybody at my aunt's house do that. They say hot milk is good for health and drinking it before going tobed will keep your brain fresh and energetic. I don't like to drink plain milk and for sure I don't like to have to before going to bed.

You derive same benefits if you drink milk plain or added with boost, viva or protinules. But drinking is the question that benefits you. Thanks for your response.

i drink milk because it helps me to fall asleep easily. If i dont drink milk, its hard for me to enjoy the night. I am always thinking about the benefits of it with my sleeping problems and not nutrition. But yea, i believe we really do need a glass of milk everyday for balanced nutrition. You make me think that i still have a pack of fresh milk in fridge and will drink that tonight.
happy mylotting and smile always

Yes, Milk is very good for health if you consume it before retiring to bed. It strenghtens our bone and activates good memory power. But it is not advisable for the people who are above 50 to consume milk before retiring to bed as the lactic acid being produced in the milk will lead to problems in Digestion and other aspects.

I agree milk is the complete food though. I love to have hot milk that is more beneficial to health.
