How to protect your skin in summer

Summer is coming. I do love sun shine but afraid of been hurt by it too. In summer is very hard to protect your skin from the sun.
I buy some sun protect cream and drink more water. Do you have any other good ideas about this?

I'm living in a tropical country so its look like the whole year is summer because of the super hot weather except in the rainy days. Because of the hot weather i always use moisturizing lotion and i also drink lot of water. I also put facial moisturizer for my face because the intense heat can make my skin look dry and sometimes it can have sun burn because of the heat.
