Twitter is best used to create a network of friends to either just socialize and get to know them, or to direct them to you blog posts or other webpage. I have been a member since it first started and it was a great tool at the time, but now for me it has grown too large and people follow me (add to their list of friends) and rarely contact me. So I have to ask whether a program can get too big. I think it probably can. - Derek

Twitter is actually a micro blogging platform. this latest craze is considered as one of the easiest way to reach out millions considering it's vast network of users. Even the US Military or the office of the President actually has its own twitter account. Comparatively, it's like Facebook's "what's on your mind" section where you put updates. The more people who follows you the wider your reach. So the best thing to do is to create a broad contact base.

From what I understood after you register you can send tweets to your followers by saying either what you are doing, sharing interesting websites or saying whatever you want. That's practically it. If you have a website or a business it may be useful to sen links to you new articles or items, news etc. You don't get paid in this site.
