First and foremost, you should have learned and mastered the basics of the English language by heart. You dont have to memorize the rules of grammar because everything will come naturally and the application of what you have learned will be on the spot. Also practice makes perfect. Practice and engage yourself to discussions or reading literary works like books, newspapers, blogs or watch movies to enrich your vocabulary.

I have to admit that reading the dictionary is as fun as watching ice melt - so I don't really know if you're up for that. It's not a bad advice though - it can be fun for others, and it can be really boring for most of us. Anyways - here is my two cents. I'm from the US and our English are ALMOST the same, though of course the slang words would be different. And then there's the accent, etc. READ,READ,READ. Pick up your favorite English author, and JUST KEEP READING! You probably don't have time for long novels and such, then read short stories. Or collection of short stories. You can also read non-fiction. Here's another thing - LISTEN to music. Listen to your favorite English musician. Listen to the lyrics - the words. Avoid being on myLot for too long - why? Not everyone in here speaks english - since english is your second language - you're highly likely not going to be able to tell the difference between correct english and not-so-correct english. Good luck!

Read the newspaper, converse with people, listen intently to the news on television, and get a really good English textbook. I recommend TOEFL. It will help you with your English skills. And hey, if you really want to learn, you will learn. Staying in the country as long as possible is an advantage, because you're around people who use the language. :)

Have you tried taking English class on line? This might help you improve your English skills because your communication will be guided until you master it.

First of all, you should have determination in you that you can able to everything related to English skills. Developing the skills is easy as far as your country is concerned. Being in UK, everyone will almost speak in English. But after being 2 years in UK, if you can't get these skills,it is pity on your part. Do some of the following activities, so that you can improve on your skills: Spoken Skills: 1. Learn the words often used in day-to-day life. You can refer the Oxford dictionary or some other dictionaries. 2.You can also learn the words from the daily newspapers in UK. Collect the distinct words from newspaper and learn the meaning for it. 3. Stand in front of the mirror, and try to speak slowly, steadily and perfectly. It will take some days to pickup to the perfect manner. 4. Try to speak in English always with your friends, without considering the grammar. Listen Skills: 1. Get a pronounciation software and hear the conversations and listen how they are pronouncing and also try to get the words as well as their meanings. 2. Listen to radio news and TV news especially BBC, that will help you much.
