It may be recalled that in the run-up to the U.S. Presidency, Obama had criticized George W. Bush’s policy in Iraq and had promised withdrawal of troops from there as soon as possible. But he had vowed to strengthen forces in Afghanistan so as to score decisive victory over the terrorist outfits. On the other hand the scenario appears to be fraught with dangerous potential in as such as the Al Qaeda and Taliban have expressed determination to settle scores with the U.S.. They have prepared suicidal squads to fight the U.S. Already they have succeeded in smashing the whole NATO supply convoy. My fellow mylotters please share your opinion i won't grade it.

i don't support the stupid war that in my humble estimation america should not even be involved in. but hey what can i say it is all about the oil, so i guess all else can be ignored. like i said i do not support the war, but i support the troops, they have my sympathy because they had a leader who did not know what the in tarnation he was doing. i feel bad for them that their job entails that they need to follow their instructions or else they'll be court martialed. speaking of which i am further bummed out by the fact that when the troops come home, their govenrment seems not to really care about them, i guess because they have served their purpose. i just don't get it you train youmg boys and girls to kill, then when the war is over for them then they go home, and the only life that they know is kill and be killed, and no one is there for them to help them transition. way to go, you have a bunch of trained killers who no longer have their job and they are expected to just intergrate into society, with no assistance may i add. AND these are men and women who are fighting for the liberties that we are currently enjoying and protecting us. anyways i digress, i agree that this war has similarities with the vietnam war. none of the troops ever needed to be where they are.

yeah that is why i am a soldier's angel i have adopted on of the troops to show them some love, because some of them do not even get to hear from home, and when there is mail call they don't get anything and it is demoralizing for them. so i am doing my part to alleviate the pain till they come back home. my argument is there is a lot of bad stuff going on in africa, yet they have not interfered there, obviously because there is no resource they can exploit there. i mean in darfur, sad really. makes my blood boil just thinking about it.

In my opinion, the war in Afghanistan AND the war in Iraq already are another Vietnam for the U.S. The enemy is blending in with the locals, and only attacking our soldiers when it is convenient. They attack quickly, then disappear into the villages and the mountains. This is exactly the same tactics used by our enemies in Vietnam. We are trying to "help" people who do not want us there to begin with, exactly as we did in Vietnam. Also, our troops are now being used as police officers and security guards, just as they were in Vietnam...I don't know about you, but it sure sounds like another Vietnam to me...
