I'm using bamboo canes as the original sticks I put in are too short so my peas have all fallen over. Just put the canes in the ground behind the plants as close as you can without damaging them and make sure they don't wobble, then tie the plants to them with string.

I have put sticks in the ground and strung strong twine between them. Once the beans find it, they vine around it. You may have to put two or more, depending on how many beans you have.

Hi Peavey, Yes twine does the trick as well. You can put 2 strands between each post, one at the top and the other low down. Then every foot or so tie a string verticaly joining the top and bottom horizontal strands.

Hi kalaga, when I am growing beans I put in the supports before the seeds are planted. You can still put in some strong sticks long enough to suit the beans you have planted. If they will grow to 6 feet then you will need post about 7 feet long. Put them about 12 to fourteen inches apart along the row. The beans will curl themselves around them. I can't really be more helpful without knowing the type of bean and how you have planted them. A wigwam shape is good for beans but the seeds have to be planted around it.
