How do you think about Bel Canto? enjoy or hate it?

I am a high school student,and now I am studying Bel Canto.I think I reallllllly enjoy it.what do you think about it? To be honest,In China, there are lots of people don't like it.Especially students.Once,I asked my friend about this question.She said :I think it is so boring,and the voice is so weird```like noise..
So ,do you like it ?why?
