You could try using a cd to practice. Another good way is to read books written for children in English, and then work your way up to more and more detailed books. You can also search online to buy some inexpensive English workbooks. :D

hello my friend, I can help you with english and you can help me with chinese. So just add me as a friend and then we can pm each other okay? English is one of the easiest languages to learn, perhaps you can teach me some chinese too, would you agree? Then I can order something other than fried rice when I go to the Chinese restaurants lols.......Anyhow it would be a lot of fun and I look forward to helping you learn english if I possibly can.....don't forget to add me as a friend, then when you pm me, mention something like, I'm ready for my first english lesson...... .have a nice day..........

Hi, i understand that learning English is one of the major problem for chinese students, especially for students like us who has chinese education background and also we come from chinese family. Since young we're taught and communicate with others in chinese but not english. We only learn it in school.
When i was in school days, i face some difficulites learning English too. So, i've to think of ways to strengthen my English language mastering. Besides going for tuition, there're some others ways which may help to improve your english.
You may try to read more, such as composition books, reference books, story books and newspapers. Look for the words which you do not understand in dictionary. Besides, try also learn up some sentences or phrases which you feel nice and good to use. I think these may help effectively in enhancing your vocabularies.
If you want to improve in english speaking, try to find a friend and communicate with him or her in english, and you two can correct each other too. I think this also may help some sort. :)

You know the basics of English language. Now, all you need to do is, read more of English newspapers, magazines. And you have joined a great site that will definitely help you in improving your writing skills in English. Read English articles and remember the meanings of words you find.

Learn to master the basics of the English language. Yes it is fundamental but come to think of it. Learn it step by step and review your past lessons. It is just the same as going to the highest floor of in a building and you needed to step your foot on the first floor before getting way up high another level.

As others have suggested, I think the best thing to do is practice.
Read and write a lot in English. MyLot is good practice.
Speaking is a little more difficult, you need to have friends who speak it all the time so that you can practice it.
I tried to learn mandarin just from CD's but it is not good enough. To really learn it well I would have to speak it daily. Hehe ... and I think Mandarin is so much harder to learn than English. Too many tonal variations in words ... so confusing for the untrained ear.
