Do You Hate Cooking?

Get over the Hate. If you "hate" to cook, you won't. Figure out what it will take to turn your mindset around. What will it take for you to be willing to cook at home and for you to make your family's health your number one priority? No women should hate cooking as it is one of the important task they are required to do once they enter into marriage. But nowadays with the growth of many fastfood outlets many parents have been running around with the kids getting them fatty fast food for dinner. They live on takeout food loaded with MSG and at home greasy pizza delivery. Or worse yet, why are we eating more and more processed convenience foods at home and stacking our freezers with the latest pop-in-the-microwave foods laden with sugar, fat, artificial food colorings and preservatives. This is definitely unhealthy lifestyle, and your waistline might be telling you the same. How do you find the time to cook nowadays?
Cooking is a commitment and regardless of like or dislike with cooking we are forced to cook when the stomach start to make a hollow sound asking to be filled. And with the economic situation not getting better it is only wise that we cook and eat at home and there's no better way to bring the family together.

I LOVE TO COOK 7 do cook for myself. U ARE RIGHT about the people who eat junk all the time. It will show up on them later on. I ALWAYS THOUGHT IT WAS PART OF MY JOB TO COOK FOR MY KIDS . Alot of people don't feel that way. MY DIL doesn't like to cook & they eat out most of the time. I don't think it's good for them or my grandson. I READ AN ARTICLE AWHILE BACK THAT COOKING FROM SCRATCH AS I DO WOULD BE A LOST ART IN YEARS TO COME. I like to eat out but i sure would get tired of it all the time. I get hungry for good food.

I think so to. Zandi. U are right about the cleaniness. My bigmama worked in restaurants cooking for a long ttme. U couldn't hardly get her to eat out. She always said if people could see the nastiness in restaurant kitchens that nonone would ever eat out.

Cooking for family is an essential part of life which should be taken seriously ,you are talking your familys health and well being what could be more important than that.I cannot understand people who don't delight in cooking for their family.I don't always feel like doing to much so we may have chips and egg once in a while.Fresh veg boiled for a little while to keep the vitamins and minerals safe.fresh meat for vitamin A all these things are needed for the body to survive and stay healthy. How long does it take to boil some potatoes, put ham on the plate, prepare the salad twenty minutes at the most, how can people say they have not got the time.Plus the added advantage of it being far cheaper than all that fast food junk, full of salt, sugar and fat ,The preservatives make kids hypo as do fizzy pop and to many sweets. All sitting round the table is where kids can discuss any worries they may have or tell you about their acheivements,it is a good way to get to know your kids ,what ever trendy rubbish.kids do not bring themselves up parents have to do it.

I absolutely love to cook! I love coming up with my own recipes plus cooking the tried and true ones as well.

I love to cook, and I think it's just as easy to make something from scratch as to make something that's already "prepared". And it usually tastes better. Of course we do have prepared meals sometimes, but not often.

I hate the idea that cooking is a requirement. I also hated having my cooking insulted and ridiculed, but that was an issue belonging primarily to my now ex, although it didn't help me enjoy the process one bit. I enjoy cooking when I know it will be appreciated, but for the most part, I just hate the bother of doing it. The prep, the babysitting over the stove, the cleanup afterwards. I can enjoy it when two of us are working together to make a meal and I enjoy making things with few ingredients that taste like they took a lot more work. Crockpots are great because they eliminate the "babysitting" aspect of it all. But, as I stated earlier, I really detest the concept that cooking is a requirement for the woman. If the man enjoys cooking, then by all means, he can do it. In fact, I think it would be a lot more pleasurable as a shared task.

I enjoy cooking, generally. It can be somewhat artistic at times, and it is good to know what is going into what you are about to eat and serve your family. Sometimes, the idea of cooking is not so appealing after a long day at work and such.

Hi Zandi!
I love to cook simple dishes, whenever I get an opportunity and I feel cooking is one of the most satisfying jobs/hobbies to help feed and serve others. When one cooks, her thoughts/emotions/feelings/positivity/love/affection all gets embedded in the food, which is served. Mostly, it is my better half who does the cooking for me and our family and we relish tasty dishes prepared by her. She loves to experiment new dishes and always willing to learn new recipes.

I know some people dislike cooking. On the contrary, I enjoy cooking. I found it's a very happy experience and I feel glad if my family enjoys my new dishes. Cooking is a creative work. I do it for fun and interest and therefore it's impossible for me to hate it.
I love China

But this is in Chinese. If my memory is correct, your husband is a Chinese and perhaps he can help you to understand it
I made this long time ago and it's in English http://www.yourhero.net/cook.htm

Personally I LOVE cooking. I take pride in cooking. I know I am a good cook and my meals have never made anyone lose weight. Heheheh. I think I like to eat too much not to know how to cook the things I like. And I can throw down in the kitchen. It seems as of late I don't have the time I'd like to cook as much I want to. But when I get the chance I throw something special in the oven...

And a good meal does bring the family together. In fact I am going to have a nice cooked meal and sit down with the family soon just because I am responding to this....

Do I hate cooking? Yes I do, with every fibre of my being! (LOL) I don’t believe that it a prerequisite for women to know how to cook when they enter marriage; my husband and I share the cooking although he has a tendency to barbecue everything which can get a bit boring! I do buy convenience foods sometimes, I admit, but I do keep an eye on ingredients etc; in other words, I do my best with a busy life and my dislike of cooking!

Hi Paula,
I agree with you that being able to cook is not nor should be a prerequisite of a woman. But the exceptions is based on the practices that kitchen things have ever been a forte of women and men are inadequate and unable to do so. Now things have changes and both man and woman can cook and many are helping each other in this business. Since both the spouses are in service it can not be one sided task only. With mutual understanding both could make it at home instead of going to dine outside and and dinning outside and letting children eat pre processed food and the froze food as well is not healthy.

Men are inadequate and unable to cook? The kitchen is the "forte" of women? Are you serious? That's close to being one of the most blatant gender-based stereotype I've seen on here yet. One question though: if the above is true, then why are most major chefs men?

I agree with you ChampagneGiggles, one hundred per cent. I am pretty sure that when I was born I didn't have a label on my forehead that read "Cook, cleaner, bottle washer" and neither did my daughter, I know...Because that is the first thing I checked! And yes quite correct some of the best chefs in the world happen to be men!

Hello my friend zandi458 Ji,
Cooking is birth right of all women as per our traditins and customs. WE hardly go out for taking meals out side.Even if we are going early mornng to hospital an dthink taht we would be back by Lunch, we prepare and go. Youm may be surprised that my hubby has craze for cooking and he had many kitchen-wares before his marriage with me. It is his hobby. He gets sick, if he does not visit kitchen, even if I am cooking. WE can make any variety of Pizza at our own kitchen.
May God bless You and have a great time.

wow...such a lucky person you are for having an in-house chef. Normally it is the women who cook for the family and having a willing hands in the kitchen is a great help. Yes, I love pizza and I do make it sometimes. Homemade pizzas are more tastier as you can add a lot of extras. Few years back I opened a cafe where I personally bake all the buns and bread and it was the talk of the town then as people like the freshly baked bun from the oven. Now I still bake but not on commercial basis.

Hello my friend zandi458 Ji,
Wow! it is so satisfactory to learn that you ran a bussiness and you were talk of the town. People must have felt bad after you pulled back. My hubby feels thatyb doing own's job is no credit. It is creditable, if one knows other's work and helps everyone in society. May god bless you and have a great time.

Hi zandi. I am very passionate about cooking that I even make my own recipes. That's why in my personal website/blog site I post recipes that I love to cook and even recipes that I invented myself. I love cooking that I can spend a whole day in the kitchen. I love cooking for my family and friends and they love my food. I prefer to cook for my kids rather than buy them fast food. I want them to eat healthy. As compared to other kids, my kids don't even know Mc Donald's. My love for food makes me dream of writing my own recipe book someday or coming up with my own restaurant.

You've made some very good points here...I don't really hate cooking, I'm just not inspired by it. What it would take to inspire me is a better kitchen set up where I have more space, learning to cook better and being able to get the stuff I need to cook better. The space thing is something I'm working on slowly, learning to cook is my next challenge and right now with the economy and money being tight buying a bunch of ingredients is kind of hard. I'd like to start doing more dishes from my Quick Cooking magazines. They don't have a lot of ingredients and are really good dishes.

My kitchen is my heaven. I have two kitchens - one wet and one dry kitchen. I spend most of my time cooking or baking in my kitchen. My kitchen is the most used area in my house. Yes, cooking can be troublesome to those who have no interest in cooking but once you get the hang of it, you'll want to experiment various kind of recipes you see in recipe books.

i love to cook really, what i hated most is to wash the dishes. yes its true that cooking is a skills, not everybody can do it right? and also make sure that when you are cooking do it with love and with joy, and the result is good, i mean the food that you cook taste really good. because i really experienced that one, i cooked something that somebody told me to do so, and i myself dont like to do it because maybe im not in the mood that time. and you what? the food that i prepared dont taste good.
