Usually when someone celebrate a birthday, there is always some gathering and food. I have often noticed that in most cases, aside from the cake, often times, there is always ice cream. Perhaps maybe because its great in taste that most birthday celebration, Ice cream is always present. How about you, do you agree with my observation? Do you always have ice cream when you celebrate your birthday?

I think because they make the occasion special. But you will certainly find ice cream and cakes during children's birthdays. They really love these stuff along with spghetti and hotdogs. A child celebrating a birthday will definitely jump with joy the moment he/she sees ice cream and cake on the buffet table.Yes, they are a great combination and i love ice cream and cake too.

My family loves to get ice cream cake for birthdays and most of my friends have the same tradition. There's something about ice cream that's fun and comforting. What better way to celebrate than to enjoy an icy cold treat from your childhood? I don't always have ice cream on my birthday but I almost always have ice cream on a weekly basis.

It seems that you are really an ice cream lover considering that you treat yourself every week with such. I also eat ice cream once a week. They really bring joy and comfort as we eat. They taste great and smooth on the mouth. Now, I crave for some. Best to you and enjoy the ice cream.

What i know is ice cream and cakes are present in children's birthdays. You know kids, they love this stuff including spaghetti and hotdog. I love ice cream too, so whenever i can and if the budget permits i treat myself and my girls to a half a gallon of ice and some cake. We do have it even if there is no birthday.

Absolutely, not only is ice cream a permanent dessert during birthdays but in other celebrations as well. I guess, the cool creamy sweetness of ice cream complements the warm weather in our country. It's like a celebration "comfort food" for us Filipinos. I wonder if its the same in other countries too?

You have definitely aroused my curiousity on this one. I am also wondering now considering that our weather is warm and most likely this is the reason why we love ice cream so much considering that it is cold. But how about other countries were the weather is cold. I hope that some mylot members will clarify this to us...

i noticed that also and i dont know why we have to make sure that we have ice cream and cake in the table of every birthday celebrant. Whether you do it at home or you do it in a restaurant. Maybe there are a deeper explanation why we did that. Or maybe its traditional so whether you dont want it in your birthday but somebody will give it you as a birthday gift. lol

I do agree with your observation, ice cream is not only present on birthday parties, but also on special occasions as well.
I remember on my childhood that whenever my classmate celebrates his/her birthday, there's also ice cream on the table.
Whether there is an occasion or not, ice creams were always there to bring comfort and to bring a smile on everyone's faces including me.

Well, I dont celebrate my birthday but whenever we have gatherings, we'll have ice-cream except maybe if its winter then we'll have some delicious Indian sweets. Ice creams have a very soothing and cooling effect, esp. after a hearty spicy meal. Most Indian meals are quite heavy and spicy and its good to have ice-cream after that. Of course we have the Indian version of Kulfi, but that's too heavy on the milk part.
Birthday parties of course must have ice cream...its a big hit with the kids.

Yes, I do agree with you. When you eat something very spicy, the ice cream surely has something that will somehow take away the after taste of the spices. Well, we have something in common. I love spicy foods and I do love ice cream. May there be a gathering or no gathering.

Honestly I have never seen any birthday party that includes ice cream.
And there's always a cake .. if not cake then pastries because its similar to a cake.
By the way ice creams is a really nice option to keep in a menu.
Though I have always seen it in almost every party but .. never in a birthday party or even birthday treats.

Yes, most of the time we have ice cream with a birthday cake. I believe that is just a tradition that most people have. I usually buy neopolitian ice cream as it has the three main flavors and will go with most cakes.
I am serving cake today at my daughter's graduation party without ice cream though.

I do agree with you. It seems that ice cream has become part of every celebration. As you have said, it is some sort of tradition. Similar to us here Filipinos, when there is a big event, there is always the lechon baboy. Well, congratulations to your daughter. Best to you always!

It's a tradition :-D to have cake and ice cream. Nowadays I usually eat cake without ice cream and ice cream without cake. However, on birthdays, everybody at the party gets both (if they want it).

Hello Joyce. It must be a tradition. Well, these items are always present when there are celebrations and commonly they come together. But same here, nowadays, when I eat ice cream there is no cake, when I eat cake there is no ice cream. Do enjoy your cakes and ice cream and great to have you back. I have not seen or read much of your discussions.

No I do not have ice cream when I celebrate my birthday. I am not a big lover of ice cream and the kind of ice cream I do like is usually really expensive so I do not buy it!! My children are not big lovers of icecream either so we do not have much of it in.

I see. Your choice of ice cream must be really good. Here in our country, when there are occasions such as birthday celebration, ice cream is always present. Though I think it is really not good to have ice cream all the time considering that it is sweet and it may cause diabetes later on.

Yes you are right, I definitely agree with you.
Whenever there are birthday parties or some celebration, cakes and ice-creams are the two things that may come first to our mind as they are really sweet and good for celebrating something.
People of different ages like these two things.
Cake can be used for instant celebration at the start and ice-creams can be used for finishing move as a sweet dish!!

Any celebration won't be complete without an ice cream. Its a good food extender, coz you can't possibly eat an pint of ice cream, once served you know that all the guests can eat and share among themselves. It has a level of creaminess in it that nobody can resist. The flavors that I love are mostly chocolate - specially rocky road supreme, chocolate marble, cheese, mango and halo-halo... lol

Well, tomorrow is my Birthday, and unless someone surprizes me, there will be no Cake and Ice Cream this yr. But that is really OK. I am Diabetic and unless there is people there also to help share the cake I prefer not having the temptations of one around. Maybe I will just go have a Banana split to celebrate instead.

Well, Happy Birthday to you KrausHome. I wish that you could take in cakes and ice cream. But taking them will surely create problems considering that you are a diabetic. Though cake and ice cream would surely be great during such occasion, I am sure that you will have something else that will lighten up your birthday celebration.

Hi jpso, when having family gathering or birthday party, I like to prepare fried chicken and french fries, for these are the favorite foods of almost all the guests. Of course there are still other yummy foods as well. I know my nieces and nephews as well as all my siblings love ice cream very much. Therefore ice cream is a must every time having happy occasion.
It’s really delicious to eat ice cream together with butter or chocolate cakes or fruit cocktails. These are the tasty desserts served at the birthday party as well
Wish you all the best and happy posting!

It also goes along with other great party foods like cake, chocolate, fruit and even halo halo. Happy posting likewise and don't forget the to have ice cream on your next party.

Yes, the same here. My son loves ice cream a lot. In fact there are even times that even when there is no special occasions, my son would ask me to buy ice cream. Well, ice cream is really great tasting and creamy. It will surely bring out the child in us.
