hi all,
im not a native english speaker. i can manage to speak and write. however, i want to master the language. i make some grammatical mistakes, which i hate about myself. There are many native english speaking memebers in mylot. so i thought i could get help from you all. i'd appreciate if you could give me some tips. Please let me know,if there are any sites where i can learn to write better. thanks a lot in advance.

My dear friend, I think your grammar and English is better than some of the Americans here in US. LOL...I was born in Romania-Europe and when I came to US I was 12 years old. I never spoke one word of English and going to school was so, so difficult not understanding what anybody was saying. Like you I am not much of a reader. I can never finish a book and I don't have the patience to sit there and read. Like Radhika said, you just need practice. But I still you have absolutely nothing to worry about. If I did not go to your profile I would have never guess you spoke any other language than English. So, on that note my friend, keep doing what your doing because it's all good. :) Take care! :)

Hi andresimp.
After taking part in some of your other discussions, I think you already seem to have a good grip of the English language. Plenty of native English speakers make grammatical mistakes all the time, so try not to think too harshly about your own abilities. I make the odd gramatical error myself, so it is not always just the non-native english speakers who require tips to improve their writing.
I think the best way to improve your volcalbulary is by exposing yourself to more and more english. Listening to english speaking radio, or reading online news reports written in english would help. Also, you can get many books on audio tapes that might help.
Writing here on mylot is good practice too. Good luck with it.
