HEY Everyone,I'm a college student ,and living in the students' hostel,4 girls a room. But about 6 months ago,we began to loss moneys.I've lost money for almost 5 or 6 times, each time 100 RMB(about 20 dollars, for a poor Chinese student, that's a big number.)At first,I'm not saying it because I don't want to breach our friendship, but at the 2th or 3th lost,I feel so angry and disappoint, and the best friend of mine in the hostel told me she lost money too. When I ask about the other two girl, they just don't like that kind of guys.
I'm confused and sad,I know the thieve must be one of them. The atmosphere in our hostel became strange for we can't trust each other at all.
What could I do?Tell me..

Report the theft to the proper authority.
In the meantime, try to find a good hiding place for your money. I did stuff like this in college, when I had room-mates I didn't trust (sometimes, some people are shady and you just can't trust them). Find an item that you know she'd never been interested in, that either has space to stash money or one where you can make space to stash money. But it can't be something you might accidentally throw out or forget about - that would be as bad as somebody stealing your money!
For example, as cliche as it is, you might hollow out a hard-cover book, with just enough space to put your wallet in. Or maybe you have a thermos that you could hide your money in. Maybe, if you have a nice big pillar candle, you can scoop out some of the inside and put your money in there (just don't forget it's in there and burn the candle! You might rinse out a lotion or shampoo bottle and put it in there. Weight the bottom down so that it seems like it's just full of lotion, and never ever let anyone see you opening it to take your money out! Basically, hide it in something you know someone else would never want/use or be remotely interested in.

Thank you, hanasays, Actually,I have reported to our administrate ,she had a conversation with each of us,but she just cann't find out who is the thieve. That must be a unpleasant memory for you in your college, because I think It is awful to live together but cann't trust each other. Thanks again, your advice is very practical.

It is but your right to report something wrong. Like what you mentioned, you lost money 6 times already. It could be one of those 3 girls. The thing that you could best do is to report to the management what had happened. They will be in the position to conduct investigation and to give sanction to whoever is responsible. it.

Thievery is very common when you stay in a hostel or outside home. You should be more careful. Try to find a bag which can have a small lockable compartment inside it so that you can keep your money safe inside it and lock it. You wont have trouble with going around your bag, but still keep your money safe at the same time.

You could report the theft to administration. In the meantime, carry all your money with you. Keep it somewhere with you even when you sleep. That should prevent any more of those losses. Any valuables you have, such as jewelry, you can by a sturdy fire-proof box or tiny safe and keep it locked in there. It is sad when you cannot trust the people with whom you live, so I hope this has a good resolution for you.

well,It seems like you have known all that I'm thinking about,Karen. You are so thoughtful.I'm just doing the things you told me,like bring my bag on my bed when I was sleeping,I haven't lost money recently, but I think my little handbags for makeups had been missing... I had rather thought that I just cann't find it.
