And yet again these human anatomy expert have concluded that people today are giving away less hugs than they did a decade ago. How outrageous!!
So the stress of the economy has gotten to some of us that we are denying others the joy of a hug? Seriously people that's not fair!
I happen to love hugs whether I give 'em or take 'em. So if you have been deprived of a good old cuddly hug lately, am giving out huge hugs today absolutely free!!
(hurry offer ends at midnight GMT!)

Ill take 10, and if you could follow me around all day in-case of an emergency hug, or if someone I know needs one, but would feel uncomfortable getting one from me that would be great too. I give hugs, everyday, to many different people. It makes me feel better, it makes them feel better. I do not worry about the potential of contracting a communicable disease, because that is not something to worry about, if you are in good health and take care of your body, when you do get sick, it is not for very long. So, hug me, hug him, hug her, hug everyone, that would be comfortable with a hug.
Have a great day

Hugs are best ever!!!! Having arms engulf you and bring you in so you feel safe and warm. Im a close hugger. The whole squeeze. I find it funny the people that put their arms around your shoulders, keep the rest of their body away from you and give you that little tap. That people is NOT a hug lol.

You blame the economy but I think it's more to do with human evolution. We are more stressed due to high demands from ours jobs. Home-life no longer has a balance since we women fought for our rights to work. Our children are being shipped off to be cared for by someone else while we do go to work.
A higher population rate puts a strain on education facilities and children are not taught life skills of relevance in schools anymore.
We, as a society, are being more emotion-less and hard when it comes to our softer sides. I feel that this is more of a confidence lacking than anything else. People's promiscuity allows us to be intimate with no bond which now makes relationships a daunting experience.

I really appreciate hugging in my life .
If my lover hug me so much I do the same
with him with so much love affection that
he will be doing it daily. Its an exp[ression
of so much care and protection also love to each other.
The way of showing ones feeling to the one he like most and love forver.

it depends.
if the hug comes from my friends,i certainly will be happy to accept and want to give him or her back the hug.
but if the hug comes from someone whom i am not familiar with and it is just done for politeness,i would rather shake hands with the person than give or receive a hug.

I wonder if fear of disease has added to this? I liked to see a corresponding study on personal hygiene too: are people getting too funky to hug?
O well, I'll take a hug!

One research said that video games are bad for people, some others said they are good. Whatever be the case people still do what they want to do. Hugs are great and it feels really great to have someone hug you tight and hold you.

Well from my observations, it really depends on where you go. I've been to downtown and there are random girls with a sign that says free hugs.
Try going to an anime convention, numerous "free huggers" some that will force you to hug them because they even follow you xD

i love hugs, especially if it comes from the person that i love also like my kids and my husband. i also likes to hug my friends. i'm not that showy to them but hugging relieves someone and makes them feel important and loved.

I always love hugging. A huge hug from me to you. I think now a days people are giving less hugs and the culture difference also prevent hugging in different places. I always feel better after getting a huge hug. I would love to give a huge hug for you and thanks for giving me a huge hug.

That study is interesting. I wouldn't have guessed that people are giving fewer hugs nowadays. I still hug people, and I hug my loved ones a lot. But some people are just not comfortable with hugging others, so of course, I choose the people that I hug.

I'm not sure that anatomists would assert the therapeutic effects of hugging. (I think you are referring to the physiologists or neurologists) There's no doubt expressing ourselves physically like hugging has become too much for most of us in such a stressful life, not to mention an online environment, where words speak greater than actions. (a bit cliched, admittedly) I don't think it's the economy specifically that would reduce our tendency to hug each other, although it may be associated with increased stress levels. I'm not one for hugs, personally - I feel awkward crushing other people's ribs as a big guy - strangling a few unfortunately small souls. I prefer hugging my laptop for warmth as the weather cools to that deep, dark trough.
