If you know of someone who was abusive to their kids or pets would you report them to the authorities?

Absolutely! I really do not believe that it is right to be abusive towards children and animals. Children and animals do not have the same kind of ability to fight back, like adults do, especially if they've been abused for a long time. Calling the authorities is the right thing to do, in this sort of situation. Whether it's family or not, these children and animals should be protected.

There is a huge difference between tough love and abuse. I don't agree with either when it comes to children or pets. I think many answers here have been quite rash and probably based on the type of person you like to think you are.
The truth is, if your friend is treating their children or pets in a way that is past your own beliefs, yes, you would want to have the courage in your convictions to report them but I think that it would be a tough call to interfere.

I am a primary school children. If I think one of my class is being abused at home I talk to the child protection officer. She asks me to keep a diary and then we build up evidence. One parent said disturbing things to me about her son. He was being treated harshly. He was taken into foster care. Another boy I thought was fine but his older brother was being abused. The two boys went to live with their grandparents. I really love animals. I would offer advice to a pet owner or if necessary report them to the authorities.

Yes I would. It is our responsibility to stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves. Children and dogs fall into that category. We have an obligation to take care of them.

I would report them in a hot minute and if I happened to be able to provide the authorities with any evidence...pictures for instance...I would be more than happy to do that as well. People who abuse children or animals are the lowest form of life.

Yes for sure. I would remain anonymous but I would definitely call the authorities and let them know what is going on. There are to many children and animals abused in this country and it really needs to be stopped. People bring these kids into the world and then treat them like garbage. Every week another child is missing, kidnapped, raped and killed. It has to stop.

Heck yes! Children and animals do not have the ability to stand up for themselves, so it is your responsibility to stand up for them. If you know of a child or animal that is being abused, and you do nothing about it, that makes you as bad as the person doing the abusing, and you can seriously be charged with a crime.
