I was just recently "let go" from my position as Store Manager from a retail chain I had been employed with for 2 years. In that 2 years, I turned my store completely around. Before me, it was faltering. The customer service was lacking, the sales were in the red and the site itself was in shambles. I single-handedly restaffed the store, helped in remodeling it top to bottom, and brought customer service beyond expectations. I took the company's lowest performing store to the top of the district and the region! I was salaried and was required to work 48 hours a week... I generally put in 50-60 hours (plus an hour commute each way). I loved my job! I poured my heart and soul into that place. I lived it! Now, I'm grieving. Technically I resigned but only because I was placed between a rock and a hard place. On my last day, I was taken into my office and told I was being placed on suspension because I had written 9am-5pm on the time sheet when I had actually worked 9:30am-5:30pm. I was flabbergasted! I still am actually! I can't believe the disloyalty. I wasn't stealing, or slacking... I wasn't harming the company in anyway... I just don't understand!? Has anyone else experienced anything like this? And why do I feel like I failed somehow? What could the real reason be that I was "let go"? Do I have a case against them? Please comment.

You were let go because the company wanted to replace you with someone who they could pay less and save a couple of bucks on. Don't take it personally...the business world is rough and people will take advantage of you and are disloyal. You don't sound like someone who failed that company to me.

Thanks Spalladino, I was wondering that myself... 2 months before all of this went down, I was offered a promotion to a bigger store... to take place 1 month after the "lay off". It probably was cheaper to higher someone new than to give me a pay raise... I just wish it didn't hurt as much... and that I could find new employment! ;)

I know how you feel. I was let go last November and haven't had any luck finding another job either so I help run the motorcycle shop my husband owns. I gave the company I worked for 110%, too, and in the end they gave me the shaft because all they care about is the bottom line. Don't give up hope. It sounds like you've been a great employee and you'll be a great one again someplace else.

this still never happened to me even before, for me small things you did against the company is always big deal to them no matter what you did,you only adjust your time but its also the same because you still work for 8 hours but as i have said that everything in a company is a big deal.
