Why tears come out ?

My sister got married on May 8th (last month). We both are really very close to each other, I share all my secrets with her. I love her verymuch,.. she is my favourite. But now she is not here and left to US on 30th. On that day me, my mom and she we three were crying, though we know that she is going to live happily with her hubby but still tears came out.
Did you ever cried alot? Also do u know is there any scientific reason behind these tears??

I watching a show on TV a few years ago and they were saying how if you drop tears into a bucket of water with germs or bacteria in it the tears can destroy the negatives thousands to one...so I have often thought how mother nature has given us all an imals things for reasons, so maybe they are really there for when we hurt ourselves, maybe cut ourselves, maybe we are meant to put the tears on wounds and such like a cat licks theirs....just my thought.
