What's the worst hair colour or cutting disaster you have ever had?

I wondered if anyone has a story to share about a major hair disaster? I have never had a really bad one... I did cry when the hairdresser cut about 2 inches more than I wanted off my hair because it grows so slowly. What about you? Ever had your hair dye turn green? Hair falling out when you bleached it? I'm sure someone out there must have a hair disaster to share.

Well.... in comparison to your tales of cutting bangs and similar... i think mine counts as a REAL disaster. 2 friends of mine bleached my hair, leaving concentrated peroxide on my scalp and suffocating my Head with clingfilm.... I ended up with 3 patches burnt down to my skull; and had to have a skin graft to allow the wound to heal. i now have 3 bald patches and have to have plastic surgery to correct this.

That's horrible! I'm so sorry! I feel so bad for you. Do you talk to those friends any more? I don't think I could after that.

holy moley, that is most definitely a disaster!! Will the bald patches start growing hair again at some stage? Or will they be bald forever? That must have been so painful, I didn't know that bleach could be that nasty!

Well i have to have a really long surgical process involving what is called a "tissue expander" (basically a high-tech balloon) being placed uner my scalp in a surgical operatiion- leaving a small tube out, then over 6 to 8 months they will slowly fill it with air to create new stretched skin. After that, the newly created skin will be used to cover the bald ares. So my hair will just be slightly thinner:P its a long process but it works:) and no, i barely speak to them now its a bit difficult after what happened but i am trying to get back in contact

i bought a hair color once, it was china made, and it says plum brown in the box with a sample of hair with color on it, so i bought it and asked someone color my hair with it and to my horror, it turned out red when it got dried... i was in tears... i wanted brown color as close as my natural color and i got a red one, i never wanted to attract attention, so i cried at that time and vowed never to buy another china made hair color... , it's funny now when i looked back on it, but before it was really horrible, an experience i will never forget. although i've hear 2 people said it looks nice on me, red haired me, i dont know, maybe they just want me to feel better. also in another time, i went to this salon to have a haird cut, i said layered, and when the gay asked me if i want a bangs i said yes but not too short, and you know what he did he cut it sooooo short, way too short, i cried (again)... i know i looked stupid on it, so i wore headband till i had my bangs grow back to its right length.

I color my hair every second month using mahogny red. It is my favorite color. But one time I was coloring my hear with a color and it turned out in some color I have never seen before. I had to ask my husband to go back to store and by some new color. It was horrible, I could not go out side with that hair color, it looked like it was really nasty and destroyed. Anyway, I got the new color and it got perfect. I also tryed to color my hair black once, never again, I looked like I was comming from the hostpital pale and sick.Black is not for me. It has taken me some time to come up with my favorite color but it is nice and I look great in it.

I had a pretty bad one when I was about 11 years old. I made the mistake of trying to cut my own bangs and ended up cutting them too short. I was so embarrassed! I didn't want anyone to see the poor job that I had done! I ended up putting a baseball cap on, but when my sister and mom saw it they became suspicious as I hardly ever wore it (the darn thing was too big for my head LOL). They somehow got the cap off my head and boy, did they get a good laugh from it! Fortunately I learned from that experience and I figured out how to trim my bangs the correct way.

Your post actually reminded me that I have done that too! I think I was about 8 though and I cut my fringe until it was about 2 cms long. I sort of managed to tie it back with tiny elastic bands until it grew out a bit. That experience definitely put me off ever trying to cut a fringe again!

I tried to bleach my hair. It turned bright orange. Not just kind of yellowy, I mean a vivid tangerine. I then tried to dye over that, with black hair dye. The black hair dye immediately started washing out and turned my hair patchy purple. Purple and orange. :(

Well, it eventually faded to a dull blue. The best part was that I did this at the beginning of my college term. I spent an entire term working pretty closely with a professor, and toward the end of the term, he finally pauses in the middle of saying something and goes "...is your hair blue?" Anyway, there was no real fix for it. I left it alone for a while and when I thought it was healthy enough again, I went to a professional hairdresser - one of the best I could find in the city - and he fixed it for me. Apparently he knew the exact mystical combination of industrial hair dyes and incantations that would make my bad hair go away.

oh no! How did you eventually fix it? I had a similar experience with bleaching my hair and then dying it purple (on purpose lol) It was purple for a couple of days and then went a washed out pink colour and then went orange and not matter how much bleach I put in there it just stayed orange until it grew out.

My Mom cut my hair as a kid and she knew only what we called the bowl cut. It was not in style and I was not a popular kid so you can imagine. Thankfully she eventually adapted. She just always cut it too short and it always took a couple weeks to fit my head. My wife had beautiful long hair as a teen until she thought it was a good idea to use a little naphtha gas to burn a pile of leaves. Got her head virtually shaved for that one. My oldest son got a hold of a pair of scissors when he was small and when we found him he was just finished giving the second of our twin boys a haircut. Both twins looked like they had their hair cut by a circus knife thrower from about twenty paces. Thankfully there was no blood. The only thing to do was put the spacer on the hair clipper and cut everything really short. To make sure my oldest did not forget and pull a stunt like that again, we did his hair too.

Ha ha, I'm sorry, I know they could have gotten hurt but the story about the twins is pretty funny. And it's equally amusing that you did the oldest's hair as well as the twins'.

Well I didn't have my hair dye turn green but it was a really bright red. Almost pink really. I did not cry but I wouldn't leave the house that is for sure! Another time my aunt cut my bangs so short they stood up. I did cry over that one for about 3 days.

Hi Ethereal, I have a high forehead, so I need a fringe to cover that. If it's too short, I really look terrible. My former hairstylist once cut it so short, despite my constant reminders. I had to put up with it for a week, until the hair grew longer! Needless to say, I no longer go to that hairstylist!

When I was about 12 years old I tried to cut my own hair, and that was a really bad idea! I had seen a beautiful girl on the street. I really liked her haircaut and when I looked at my own hair in the mirror, I thought that it was really ugly compared to hers. I decided to cut my hair, so that I could have a similar haircut. The result was really awful, and my mother got pretty angry when she saw what I had done. She made an appointment at the hairdresser's for me, and when I got there the hairdresser asked me if I had cut my own hair, but I was too embarressed, so I lied and said: "No,no, my mom did it!"

Hairdressers seem to have a habit of cutting hair too short. If my hair is above shoulder level, is tends to make my head look fat. I really have to be able to tie it back because I get annoyed with hair in my face most of the time.

Yes, i ever experience this bad hair problem a few times in my life. That's because my favorite hairdresser is not around, so i had to visit other hairdresser. But, unknown to me, they don't even know how to cut and make my hair look nice. For example, i want the hairdresser to trim a few inches from my hair, so my hair is still look prefectly nice. But, the hairdresser cut too much until my hair looks very short and no more follow the hairstyle that i want. It makes me feel very sad about it, for a few weeks until my hair grows longer again...

It takes me around two to three months, to grow back. I am really felt very sad when the hairdresser can give the kind of hairstyle that i want. Now, i am very careful in choosing my hairdresser, whenever my favorite hairdresser is not around..

Does your hair grow fast? Mine grows really slowly, so a couple of inches takes me about 6 months to grow back :(

About my hair, the only disaster i had is when i was wrong to use a strong high vitamin shampoo to increase the length of my hair "fast". But what i got?.. I can see that dozens of my hair are falling everytime i brush it. Luckily i don't get bald "fast" too... Thanks to the doctor.

once I wanted just to get some highlights put in .. my friend reccomeneded this hair salon and so off I went. . I had never had any hair color processes before but I felt like I wanted a little change . .. My hair is brown and I wanted that golden look . .just a few blonde highlights .. not a big deal right.... WRONG! so he puts some color in and then rinses it out and I look in the mirror and oh no . .my few blonde highlights turned into my whole head full of red hair . . he then spent the next 8 hours trying to correct his mistake . and yes at one point I had green hair .. this process got so bad that they had to give me a cup of milk cause they burnt my scalp and it seems that is the remedy for that (obviously this guy had made mistakes like this before!) anyway to make a long story short . .I walked out with the worst bleached blonde hair you could imagine . as if the color wasnt bad enough the texture of my hair was so damaged and burnt . . I looked like Garth .. the character Dana Carvey plays in Waynes World.. Needless to say for the next 6 weeks I wore a baseball cap and spoke to an expert at Clairol everyday till she helped me get back to my natural color! Geez some girls just dont have more fun as a blonde!

I got my hair cut and dyed for my wedding. Well I cried. It looked orange and instead of layering they tapered it. There was absolutely no way to style it for my wedding that would look good. I ended up with a formal dress and train wearing an upflip. I should have gotten a refund but I was too mad to deal with them. I would have tried dying my hair back to black that night but I was too afraid of having any drip stains on my wedding day.

I've only had one bad haircut my whole life and I hated every second it took my hair to grow back as a result of it. The woman gave me a mullet, A MULLET! I was so humiliated I didn't want to poke my head out of my home. Thank God my hair grows back extremely quickly.
