I plan to buy an external hard drive and I can't decide what brand that I'm going to choose. Can you recommend what brand that suit to my limited budget but high in quality external hard drive? Any explanation why you recommend this brand. Your opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Maxtor is a really good brand, its made by seagate and we all know that they make great hard drives. My dad had a 40GB seagate harddrive in his computer and it lasted from 2000-2009( a couple months ago) and so, that was suppose to show you how long they survive, i have a 500 GB Maxtor seagate external hardrive. its nice we got the 500gb for 79.99 but that was in january. hope this helps! :)

Maxtor and Seagate are same manufacturer? Actually, Seagate is very mouthful external drive here in the Philippines because of its reliablity and good quality. However, its cost is expensive. Maxtor is also good xHD in terms of cost but I'm not sure what is level of its reliability and duration. Thanks for your words. :-)

I dont play the brand game. Any drive can fail and people who have a negative history with one brand will more or less always down cry that brand. I'll say get any of them, because they're all about good. Primirarily though, either seagate or western digital is easy to bet by. Just find one with the appropriate connectivity options that you want such as firewire(400 or 800), eSata, etc.

Based on my own experience, i think Lacie is good. It's light in weight. It has a compact design. There's alot of option you can find from Lacie. Just have a look on your nearest store or go to their website. I never found a better external hard drive since i use Lacie's product. Good luck for your searching. Have a nice day and happy mylotting.
