Type- or Handwritten?

When you write, which do you prefer? Computerizing and typing your work or handwriting it? For efficiency, I use the computer. But when it comes to poetry and self-expression, I like writing my work by hand. there's this joy of slashing your work, rewriting it, and putting dots on your paper when you think you're getting lost in your work. :) What about you?

I used to write a lot, but since I started using computers, I prefer to use the computer instead. I like that way I can edit my work without wasting paper and ink. My handwriting is not that nice anyway especially when my hand starts to get tired of writing.

I have become a slave of the computer…so much so that when I write these days, I sometimes fail to recognize my own handwriting. I always prided myself on my good handwriting but typing at the computer has made me impatient…I just don’t have the patience for a good handwriting…most of the times, I just scribble down what I want to write. And of course, the advantages of the keyboard are there…best is being able to correct the mistakes without leaving any signs of correction.

it depends on where am i going to use it. when it is okay to write it down then i do write it down. i remember it more if i am the one who jot it down. but if it is long then i need to type it or use the computer then print it. i still use my writting skills when i really needed it. though the computer has helped a lot to make out job easier.

Handwritten is an expression that you give an effort in what you are doing and by writing it in your own hand, you can start from scratch, editing then finalization. You don't need ink and computer, and printer so it is much economical that you save because you are only using paper or pencil or pen or other writing material, and it is not expensive as by type. If you are writing by hand, anytime you want to read it, it easy to access. You can also practice your handwritten if you write as often as you can. You can make your handwritten good and nice overtime, this is in my case, it improves my handwritten in keeping on writing. If you have computer, nothing wrong with typing because you can still read what you write every time you open the computer.

I am so very used to computers that I hardly use a pen for my notes, or letters or anything. Actually, while typing on a computer we can erase what we wrote and I like that the most. You can go back and modify the contents without any strikethroughs!!

I believe most people prefer to use the computer when they write something cause it's more effective. Some people who object to computer argue that typing is in lacing of emotion, espeically for letters which should be of great feeling. As to me, I prefer computer, and I think I can perfectly express myself by typing.

I have a good typing speed of 55 - 60 words per minute. So, I prefer to type when it comes to work or any planning related to personal life. But, when it coems to personal experessions like writing a poetry or a love letter, I like to write it using a pen and paper.

it depends on what i am going to write...if it has something to do with business i type it for it is more formal and appropriate, but if it is something personal, i prefer hand writing...to show more sincerity and of course it has more personal touch...

hi ragenepalma, i prefer to write by hand. Initially my handwriting was not so good. later during my college days when i saw beautiful handwriting of a few friends i wanted to improve my handwriting and i tried harder to improve. now my handwriting is so that most people admire it. so always i prefer to use write on my own. but in official i have to use computer for two reasons - one, computer written documents look better and are preferred and secondly, a copy of the document remains for future use. i have read somewhere i can not exactly recall, that handwriting can be used to determine one's personality and is being used by some companies for selection of employees. happy mylotting

I used to love to type since I was fast at it but lately i have found that I seem to be very dyslexic. Yes very, I mispell everything and its not me, if I handwrite I turn words around I dont mispell them but when I am typing I mix all the letters up. So now typing has become a bit of a chore for me as I have to go back and recheck my spelling over and over again. And numbers!! Forget it, even dialing the phone had become a super onstacle. I ussally have to do it twice and very slowly so I wont mess up the phone number. At least I have beautiful handwritting. Since I was a little girl I loved penmanship so I do love to write and it still comes out very nice in the end. Unfortunately I cant do that here in myLot and a lot of you are gonna have fun trying to decipher most ot the stuff I have written.

I usually prefer typing because when a lot of people write, their handwriting can be terrible. Sometimes I can read some people's handwriting, but most of the time, I cannot read it all.

When I first started typing at the age of 16 it went on from there. Since almost able to type close to 90 words per minute, I do most of my notes, stories, lyrics, poetry and such to typing. It's the way to go nowadays, since technology is advancing, it gets more tiring from trying to write with a pen or pencil. Also when trying to write with pen or pencil, let's see for those left handed it leaves those lead or ink marks on the side of the hand...LOL I hate it when that happens! But usual the tasks get more done by typing. Great post and thanks for sharing!

When I'm in a flow, such as with writing poetry, handwritten always. I can't flow when typing. The pecking keys are too distracting. But for short stories and things, I type. It's not so much a flow as it is a method. I don't know how to describe it, but I bet you get what I'm saying :)

I prefer to type as I am getting much better at it and it's much faster than handwriting something. If I'm typing something I can fit more things on the paper by typing it than handwriting it and typing is less stress on my fingers. I'm also better at using computers than reading books, analyzing, writing, etc.

I can't write very quickly, and when I write a lot, my hand cramps up and hurts and then I get bored with whatever I'm writing because it's taking a long time. When I write a story, I write it in my head as I write it on paper, but since I write slowly, my head writes faster and by the time I get through the first couple chapters, I already know how the story ends and the general idea of what will happen throughout. Then I pretty much get bored with that story and move on to another one. So, I prefer to type. I can type pretty quickly and it's easier for me to keep up with my thoughts, so I can get a lot more of the story written out before I get bored of it. I do know what you mean though about how it feels amazing to be able to cross out your words and rewrite them and I even doodle around the edges of my paper when I'm thinking of what to write next.. :D
