http://in.news.yahoo.com/139/20090614/900/twl-former-oz-indian-victim-calls-recent_1.html While all blasted Australia making out that racism is the reason for the crime making racism more an important issue than the crime itself, I felt nice to see this perspective on it. I had always argued that one we are making too generalized a statement and secondly we just didnt see reason behind this crime. Racism has suddenly become a favourite word and any attack on Indians is termed as Racism. Why? It was good to see this perspective on the attacks. One really needs to go in depth to see the reasons behind these crimes. Not just term it as Racism and then forget about it. And most importantly, it is the crime which should be dealt with. And not so much of time lost on this term.

Well, there should be a serious debate on the attacks. Most importantly the Indian students should be made aware of how to behave when in a foreign nation. We dont know what went about in their lives before these attacks. We just see that they were attacked. We need to seriously think about it. There are many Indians who live in Australia and many of them have been living happily. Those who have been attacked are a few. So how is this racism. Because if it was racism then all Indians would be attacked and made to feel alien. So how come we get indians who give this perspective or we have indians who have happily integrated into the australian society.

I agree. We really need to go deeper into the reason for these attacks than just branding australians as Racists.
