Usually i am able to solve the computer problems by myself. Most windows problems can be solve with a good formatting and a brand new os installation. Hardware problems can be more complex to solve since ofter there is the need to test the single components alone in another machine, and that is really time consuming.
Anyway run some antispyware and antivirus software and get rid of all those bars and addons of browsers that can make it heavier.
If that doesn't work a fresh install will almost certainly fix things up.
If you don't know how to do it i don't think it will take much time for a computer technician to solve it.

Hi maximax,
Know what? Before I got my own computer I had no knowledge how to operate a computer. I never learned it as a course or diploma. Bought it straight and set to work. More than there times my PC went to hell and I needed some one to fix it. And unfortunately all those people who fixed my computer were heck and after one year of continuous struggle I discovered the real doctor of ill computer and I went on learning every time it went wrong.

I have never asked someone to fix my computer anymore once i learned how to work out things myself.Sometimes it saves up time and money when we are doing it ourselves.Furthermore everytime i sent in for a fix it will somehow just result in another problem and so i resorted in to fixing it myself and now i am helping others too with a minimal charge.

well before but not as of today. I have been in a repair course last 2 years and have been helping me a lot.
Repair shops for computers are really greedy nowadays. They will reformat your computer for $20 and install your os for another $20 and additional installations for $10 each which is really insane!.
That is why sometimes i do home service with a fee of $25 which is good for me and good for the one who need a repair done.
If you have no files that is that important, then do a fresh format and installation. That is why i recommend having two hard disk so one is for the os/programs and such and one for the files important to you. So if one day your os acts up you can easily just format it.

Yes, we have this guy who services all our machines at my office… the office has an AMC with him and he visits us regularly. Now, I have bought my computer from him so as it is , he would come to fix up any problem if I ever have. I am not very conversant with hardware and software so I don’t fiddle much…once something’s gone wrong, it would be difficult to fix up. So I always depend on this guy.

I can handle most problems with my laptop, so I don't have to get someone out to fix it for me. It seems you've met many problems, how can it be? Computers are not that easy to get infected with virus or some other things, you just need to take care when you use it. Besides, I suggest you read some computer-related books and materials to help you understand the operating system of a computer. It won't take a long time before you can fix it by yourself.
good luck!

Not usually. My hubby is pretty savvy where computers are concerned. He used to work in internet development at a major company. So when something goes wrong, these skills are pretty handy.

My computer has been on and off a few weeks ago, the reason that i was not on here much often. Luckily, i have 2 nephews who are good computer technicians. So, i do not have to get another person to get it going and of course they don't charge me that much.

Yeah, it happened a few years ago where my computer wouldn't boot, I really didn't know what to do since i didn't to anything to make not work. So i called my friend to check my computer. I think there was an error on the operating system so he reinstalled it. So it's back to normal. I do know how to install an OS but i just want to be sure because it could be a hard drive problem which i am not really familiar. I'm glad it's free of charge. lol!

I could understand the situation and gauge your technical expertise, so I know how frustrating it can be. But that problem seems like a very simple one. You most likely installed something that keeps reseting your browser's homepage. Just think back on what it might be, probably some free glitter icons package or something, or maybe even something from yahoo? Simpler yet, you should have your search engine set in your browser options (per browser).

If ever my computer fails and if i cannot fix it myself, then that's the time I would let someone go and fix my computer. I'm not really a technical person so i can't rely much to myself when something happens to my computer. I don't need to pay for it to get fixed since I know some people who could fix my computer whenever it fails.

Getting computers fixwd here is not expensive. However, I had my PC repaired some time ago, and it came back completely loaded with Thai language programs.

Normally when my pc have a problem i will solve by myself!!So in the past some problems come but i never had the need to call somebody a home o fix and solve the problem because i was able to solve it without many problems!!Surely it depends if it is a software problem will be easy normally to fix and solve..may be some hardware problems can be a bit harder but if your computer was built from a ood quality hardware components i think your hardware will be relally ok for much time...

One day I got up and went to turn on my computer and all I got was a message saying that windows could not boot up as some file was missing. This happened several times and finally I kept hitting the enter key and it got me in. Then I managed to run my Kaspersky antivirus scan and it told me I had a Trojan that would not be removed. Then the muse stopped working and I couldn't get into any programmes. I was afraid I would lose all my work, but the little man who cleaned it all up for me managed to save everything except my emails and email adress book, which were in Outlook Express. Now I just use my email service provider and save anything important there on the web. It cost me over £100 though.

I wouldn't get someone to mess with my computer and have to pay them for something you can do yourself. It does sound like your computer is slowing down with age and that happens. You can increase your RAM and that will help quite a bit but won't make your internet any faster. Actually, nothing can make it much faster and if it's slow then you should contact your provider and see if there's something wrong. The first person who posted here is right about doing a clean install, it will return your computer to its original state which was hopefully pretty good. If you do reformat make sure you backup all files you want to keep, either to another drive or onto discs. You will lose all your software applications too so hopefully you will have install discs for them. Remember, you can do all this yourself without paying anyone.

I never get someone else to fix my computer for me, it's wasting money on something I could do myself. If I ever have a problem I just look it up, or ask someone on a forum. Sounds like you're having browser problems, maybe you could go on the support chat for Firefox, I believe they have one, Internet Explorer I don't know.
Hope that helps.
