Do you guys think that England cheated during the match India vs England??Bowling cheap bouncers just to get wickets. Not having a spirit of sportmanship.just to win the match.Do you think there should be a rule in cricket that you cannot ball more than a number of short pitched balls in an over???

I can't imagine that you are serious !!! Have you ever played sport of any kind?
The format of T20 is already so one sided to favour the batsmen and the TV viewers. The bowlers have so many restrictions against them that they might as well toss the ball up to the batsmen and ask him to hit it over the boundary.
England merely did their homework and found the Indian batsmen to be vulnerable under a short pitched ball and exploited it. India were well aware that their batsmen can't cope with short pitched deliveries and should have practiced this in the nets. Maybe Indian players should play in South African domestic series, then they will learn to play the short delivery at real pace.

Hey Tas4, i know how you felt. I am a sport lover / participant. i have witnessed my team (South Africa) fail on many occasions and the first reaction is very often an emotional one. I am also a Rugby fan and a passionate Sharks supporter and when they lost badly to be denied a semi final berth in the Super 14 competition, we were looking for reasons like referee, linesmen, coach, captain etc. etc. but really at the end of the day they were outplayed by the better team on the day. I am the captain of our golf team in our local league and it is hard when we loose but I often tel the guys - "We didn't play to loose did we? We tried our best but the other team played better"
Sport is not only about winning, it is also about being able to loose.

You probably are right.I agree that when you are playing at international level you need to know how to bat in all types of conditions.Secondly,I do play sports especially cricket and have experienced that it is too difficult to hit TOO many bouncers.Even if you might get hold of 2-3 still it doesnt make much of a difference.Yeah lets hope that they learn .Anyways i was serious as I LUV cricket and this discussion was started when the last over was being bowled.

You can't say it is cheating. It is allowed in the game. You are also free to use the technique. You should know how to handle cheap bouncers, that is more important.

yes, these are game techniques that we can't complain at all. Though these techniques are cheap, as long as they are legal we have to accept them and find ways to cope with it.

instead of calling England cheaters why do you not say that Indian batsmen should learn how to play well against short pitched bowling. England bowlers took a leaf out of the wet indies bowlers book and bombarded he Indian batsmen with some nasty short stuff. it was a top class performance by the England pacers who kept to their plan of bowling bouncers and reaped benefits too. there is already a rule that a bowler cannot bowl more than one bouncer above the shoulder height of the batsman. how many more rules do you want?

Yeah. You are right that it is a west indies technique to bowl bouncers. The thought that the batsmen should know to play bouncers came to my mind as well. The fact that they could control their line and length is also good one .But just an OVERDOSE is too much.

if india wants to be a world beater and most of the indian batsman cant handle bouncers or short balls then i dont think they deserve to be world beaters..the way raina, rohit, jadeja got out really showed tht india did not read the wicket properly and they made a big blunder by not including shreesanth and robin cuz sree culd hav made use of the bounce and robin is a deadly fielder and an amazing player of bounce..! the match against england clearly showed tht india can not be world beaters if they cant handle short balls..! simple..!

no i dont think so.they played well and won.they were more aggressive than india.i think raina is the one to blame, bugger has match fixed i think.he was laughing in the dug out when india was loosing, has made enough money in ipl2,maybe thats why.i think indians were tired too.playing too much of cricket

There are rules in place where you can only bowl one ball between shoulder and head height per over, and anyting over head height is a no ball. From the games I have watched the umpires have been tough on bouncers. Good batsmen in form would prefer a ball to be bounced at them rather than a yorker as it is easier to get up and over the boundary, it just looked like the Indian batsmen weren't in form yesterday.

Is it cheating Tas or is it that India didn't play according to game plan. How can u lose by 3 runs. It pains me to see that India lost this match in this format. For them to have the 20/20 tournament and also be the defending champion and going out like this to a side like England is something to talk about. I hope that West Indies give them a good fight tomorrow. If it was not bouncer then they would be bowling yorker and so India should have be prepared for anything. I cannot believe that India couldn't go and bat off 153 a second time.

One main resason for defeat was the misfield by yuvraj that led to 4 wides. You can also say that it was bad luck that India couldnt make.Just wanted suggestions as i strongly felt that England bowled bouncers deliberately.even though it might be a technique.

THEY were playing totally by the books and exploiting the weakness of amateurs batsmen which was totally due to the stupidness of Dhoni.
I think the blame should be on team india captain for wrong strategy or probably fixing the whole damn match

I don't think it is cheating. India did not play up to the mark. In T20 India's main weapon was sehwag. Sehwag used to give us a blistering start along with gambhir. So the batsmen who came after them capitalized on those runs. But now India lacked perfect combination. Rohit does not fit into Opening slot. Sending Jadeja before yuvraj and dhoni was a big mistake as he ate 35 balls to score 25 runs. Jadeja got his first game in the tournament and so he would be under pressure so he should have come in later...

Thanks for replying.I think that they kept Yuvraj for the last 6-10 overs. But unluckily he got stumped. You are right about the other things too.But one thing is that Rohit hit 20-50 runs in the opening matches but lost his way in the last two matches.

Bowling short pitched deliveries is not cheating. Its international cricket and players who wish to pplay at this level should be able to cope with everything that is dished out to them. No I dont think there should be a rule on the number of short pitched deliveries in an over. India were outplayed, their strategies did not work out. Good luck to them for the next time!

You maybe right in the way you think but as for me i still think that these balls were just thrown to make the indian team not hit it.It can be taken as a strategy too.But it is kind of Unfair to bowl too many bouncers.5-20% is ok but if 90-95% of your balls are bouncers then its too difficult.

It is not a cheating . They exploited the bouncy conditions. There are players who
can tackle the bouncers . For example , JAYASURIYA in SRILANKA , when he was in good
form can tackle the bouncers. Every bouncer targeted at jayasuriya will go for SIX
OR FOUR. The main flaw in our INDIAN team was the defensive approach by DHONI in
batting . If DHONI would have batted at NO.7 in all the games ,as he used to play ,
INDIA would been T20 CHAMPS AGAIN.

Well my friend i honestly don't think India cheated they were outplayed on the day. Short pitch bowling is apart of the game it's honestly just indias weekness. If England had bowled those balls to other teams that are good at playing those balls it would be a different result. If india want to beat the world they have to be comfortable playing a wide range of balls better luck next time India.
