I dont think potato is dangerous for diabetics as it produces starch. Easy to burn and be converted to energy. I love potatoes. I like it better than rice sometimes. I like it baked or boiled then drizzled with pesto sauce or just sprinkled with salt and pepper.

My dad is diabetic, and it is one of the foods he was told to limit eating. I think like any food it has good benefits, and bad benefits.

Potatoes get a really bad rap, but the truth is they are actually really healthy. They have a lot of good vitamins in them. Yes they can increase blood sugar in diabetes, however, diabetics can eat them with out a problem if they eat them correctly, the key is it keep the serving size small, and to pair them with protein. If you have potatoes as a diabetic keep the serving size to 1/4 of a cup, and make sure to eat some kind of meat, cheese, or egss with them.

Hi Kalaga, I eat a lot of potatoes. They do not have the same impact on my sugar level as onions, rice or pasta. I always eat them with the skins on and this is supposed to help control the sugar level. I would suggest that a diabetic be careful though since we are all different. I recorded all my meals and sugar level over several weeks to see what items were raising it.. I would recommend all diabetics do the same. There might be some surprises.

Yes its true potatoes are not healthy for you especially if you are a diabetic. Just like pasta, rice and bread. All will make your sugar rise. Also they say even if you are not a diabetic that white color foods are not good for you. Makes you gain weight.

My husband likes potatoes a lot. It is one of the very few vegetables he eat. So, when we were staying together I ended up cooking varities of potato dishes especially different types of potato fries with different masalas. I am fine with potatoes but not very fond of it. Yes, I know that it is more of carbohydrates and increases blood sugaer, but I don't know what to do for that. Let me know if anybody here knows it.
