How did you feel when someone so close to you left this world?

It feels really hard when someone you know leave this world forever.It becomes even more hard if that person was very close to you. I lost one of my friend last year.I did not know how to cope with it.Suddenly there is a big hole in your life.And you realize that vacuum can never be filled but can only be hidden deep within you.As time passes you still miss him but you learn to move on.It definitely gave me a thicker skin.You really come to understand what life is about. I think these moments of sadness really builds the character within you.If you never had sorrows in your life your character becomes very shallow and you won't value your relationship. Do you share the same feeling? How did you manage when someone very close to you had to depart?
