MMh ..between this 2 i think windows..such as mac is ok too but normally apple products are too much expensive and in many cases, considering also the softwares and the os in itself, they have not a configuration so better than a pc as well!!
So i think it is normal that if you don't want buy a mac computer normally you will use windows for different versions!!I think in the last year there was a good developing for mac in the market also because windows vista was not so good as many people guess when it came out...
Naturally i think that Linux in this way can be better as well..but i think now it is quite impossible to compare an open source os totally free and the other big owner os in the market because policy and philosophy between them are totally different!!

I have only ever had Windows so I guess it would have to be Windows but the Mac operating system does look good, the only problem is the price of the Mac computers, they are abit pricing whereas you can get a Windows PC for more than half the price. If I wanted to make some nice graphics, I might choose Mac instead but I would definetly be streching the budget for what I normally pay for a PC.

It Really depends on what you need it for . Like 2 scenerios, Lets say the first person wants a powerful computer because he/she is a hardcore gamer. they want it all, fast processor, crazy amounts of ram, graphics card, everything. That person is gonna want a windows operated computer. Windows are built for that thats why its so widely referred as a "personal" computer. Dont get me wrong, macs can be personal too but not in the same way.
The next person wants something that has decent power handles graphic design apps and is more proffesional or work friendly. They also want to scrapbook as well but also need something to do casual web surfing. That person will go and get a mac. Macs computing powers arent really toward the casual gamer or someone that wants to have fun really. but more so something for work , business, or school. tools that mac gives you help make things like designing and management easier.
With that said it doesnt mean that these operating systems are limited to work and play , they both have capabilities of doing both. but Windows has more power in the sense that its been around more and microsoft has already monopolized on windows. Mac is still a new concept to alot of people and not everything will be available for the mac.

I think the lack of mac products compensate the fact that windows vista is disappointing. Vista does have some problems with xp software but there solutions whilst there are no, or at least unknown to me, solutions for running windows software on mac pc's.
It's just a guess.

Definitely Windows.Mac is much expensive and least useful in developing any software apps as it has its own compiler and developers suites that's not entirely portable to other OS. You want practicality, use a window or even better just use Linux. You want something flashy for your friends? Get a Mac.
