Hey friends,
Was just curious to know something about swimming. I have always longed to swim but with the fear of drowning I never took a chance.
Well, my query is while swimming, how do you breathe?? Doesn't that water enter your mouth and choke your throat?? I always fear this..
Please answer...

Believe it or not, i'm good on swimming since i was 3 years old baby. It only takes less than a week to know that without using any float help... If you wanna know the simple technique is; Just watch how dogs swim. Dogs never drown their heads on swimming while they keep cycling their 4 feet under the water.

Because of the air in your lungs and the oxygen in your body, you have a kind of natural bouyancy and most of us actually tend to float. There are different techiniques you learn with different strokes that allow your head to be above water and you can take a breath. If you get in some shallow water, you can hold your breath and move under water then stand up when your breath runs out! Then you breath and go back under.

I learned to swim when I was 3. I love the water. When you are swimming as you take a stoke you turn your head out of the water to breath. I think you should take some lessons then you will really enjoy being in the water and when you can swim the fear will dissapate.

You breath in than you go underwater and let a little bit of air out at time until you need to get more air than you go back up and repeat the process, you know we are not like the dolphins that can stay 20 minutes underwater until they have to come up to get some air.Good courage.

I can't swim but I enjoy doing it with a flotation device or life jacket. I'm not afraid of drowning or anything. It's just that I don't wanna learn how to swim.

Hey,
Yes I actually also know how to swim. When you swim, you don't actually breathe, you just have to tilt your head and take a breath through your mouth, no you don't choke and it doesn't go in your throat. Just take small steps, and you shouldn't be scared anymore. Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!!

Well, when you swim you usually keep your head above the water, so breathing is no problem. :) And usually you breathe through your nose because your mouth is too close to the water (unless you're swimming freestyle or something like that maybe).
Usually when I drink water it's not too bad to swallow some. Every once in a while it goes down the wrong tube, but usually I just swallow it harmlessly. The most it does is taste bad on the way down. xD

I swim and i love it. It's a great experience. If only i had time or a swimming pool in my backyard, I'd swim everyday. You should try it too. My father wants to swim but can't because of his ear problem. So if u don't have problem u should take advantage of that and learn to swim. It is scary when u first step into water. Even though u are not drowning u feel a little hard to breath but then u catch on.
And we don't breath while swimming, we hold it. But sometimes, water enters your mouth and u feel irritation in your throat. You should have someone to watch while u learn or you will drown. I almost drown 3 times while learning. Lucky there was someone to pull me up. Now i don't drown. I

Seriously, take a simple swimming lesson. They offer them at a lot of YMCAs and things like that.

Just stand in water of comfortable temperature, but not above your head. Concentrate on relaxing. Clear your mind and lean against the wall of the pool. Slowly move your arms and fingers underwater. Notice how it feels like air? To me, it is so therapeutic to feel my body being caressed by the water. Don't think about drowning, just think about how it feels like your literally floating. Of course, you do not breathe below the water level.
