Can I get much dumber?

I needed to stop at the bank on my way back from dropping my daughter off with her dad, so I took a way I normally don't turn when leaving his place. I am driving along. Stop light, stop light, stop light, (you get the picture) then all the sudden stop sign. Ok, so I stop. Some sign about Movies in the Park catches my eye and I start reading it. It takes me about 45 seconds to realize that I am sitting there at a stop SIGN waiting for the thing to change!
Anybody else have a duh moment today? Please tell me I am not the only one.

No, you cannot get much dumber - I am the Prsident of the club. I did something so stupid a while ago and it could have been dangerous. I wnet through a red light. so help me Your Honour, I am guilty. I was just in deep thought. I remember looking at the light and seeing it turn to red and stopped my car neatly. I then carefully looked to see if any traffic was coming and then moved out. It was only the expression on a man's face that made me think that I could be doing something wrong! Oh am I dumb!

Hey, I want to join this "forget what you came here" club. I do the same thing all the time. Yesterday I even went to another room, picked up what I thought I went to that rooom for, returned to another room and realized I still had not picked up what I originally went into the other room for in the first place. I joke about Alzheimer's but probably should not because this is a disease I really do not want to get. I think this happens to a lot of us and if we were actually to have a club, we would probably find we would have a lot of members, young and old.

Did you happen to catch one of my responses in other discussion, about the time I mailed my steak, instead of the mail from work? Yup, thru the steak that I just purchased into the mailbox, and went home with the envelopes still in my hands. Once I discovered they were still with me, I then realized what I had done, and I had to go back to the store, to tell them that my husband's supper was in the mail box.

I actually worked in the office of supermarket, which is why I had the steak and the mail in my hands, when I walked out of the store. The embarrasing thing was I had to go to the store manager so he could call the post office. I was laughing so hard when I was telling him that he barely knew what I was saying, and then when he realized what I did, he got on the intercom and told all the shoppers to not drop any mail in the mailbox outside of the store, because some dumb employee thru a steak in it. lol The mailman was actually glad that we called, because he said if we didn't the morning mailman would've had an awful morning, opening the mailbox, and smelling the rotten steak, and seeing the blood juice from the steak all over everyone's packages. I have never forgotten it, and my family has never let me.

Many times. I am probably subconscious driver. Few days ago I start driving in totally different directions. Instead going to work, I was driving to near coffee place...who knows why...maybe I was missing morning coffee....

I've done the same thing on a number of occasions. Most recently I think I've gone out to do errands and gotten home only to discover that I missed one of my stops. Once I get on the Blvd. I think I'm on my way home and forget about the bank or the library, etc.

Too funny. I'm sure I've done that a few times myself. At least there wasn't anyone behind you, otherwise they'd be a little upset.
Hmm... something dumb I've done lately... man, I can't think of one, which is unlike me because I do something dumb quite often.
Oh wait, did I tell you about the time I had to call and ask hubby's boss how to use a gas grill, because I seriously thought that if I left the gas on I'd end up blowing up the house! Yeah, his boss got a good laugh out of that, and that was the last time I ever attempted to grill anything.

Oh gawd... I wouldn't know where to begin with charcoal!! I don't know what I'd do if it weren't for hubby... I'd just never have any sort of grilled food.

I didnt have a duh moment, but a friend of mine did.
I had a text from an elderly friend of mine yesterday, after having visited her, asking me if I had seen her false teeth. Whe had searched everywhere, under the sofa, in the bathroom, even in the kitchen.
Well she texted me this morning and guess where she had put them, in a duh moment? She had gone to make herself a cheese sandwich, which she cannot eat with her false teeth in, so she had taken them out and put them in the refridgerator, where the cheese was.
Oh ye, that was funny.

So did the stop sign change green? You never finished your story.

Yeah, you're not alone. I tend to keep my duh moments private(those most do happen out in public.) so I won't go into detail about any of then. I will say though, some ended up being down right hilarious and didn't embarrass me as much as I thought they would.

lolol...Oh, Yes, I've certainly done that before...although I wasn't reading something when I was waiting...I was just waiting..lol. How about the times I took the road to work, when that's not even where I was going to....?

haha C'est la vie! I find myself just as dumbfounded at the end of the work day. This is when the dumbness strikes me most of the time, those are the times when I expect it to strike. Then there are the other times, when I am not prepared... It usually involves at least one other person there, because it's not as dumb unless there is someone else around to tell you how dumb it is!

Hey, don't beat yourself up over this. We all have lots of stuff on our minds while we are driving. Just consider yourself fortunate that no one honked at you or flipped you off for wasting their precious minutes (ha, ha). There are so many impatient drivers out there these days. I think I would rather have stopped at the stop sign and waited there for a while than daydreaming and not paying attention and going right through the stop sign risking an accident. I do not think I would be too hard on myself in this situation. May be it is a way that god is warning you to pay more attention when you are driving. It is so easy to make a little mistake even when you are paying attention, that is what causes accidents every day. A car is a machine we have to respect or we will surely get into trouble ones of these days.
