Today I was at the post office in a good size city...the biggest post office in this area for at least 100 miles. Anyway my girlfriend and I stood in line at this post office for at least 25 minutes because there was only one clerk on duty. There was at least 10 people in line for this clerk at all times. I can't believe the postal service is hurting this bad that they have one clerk in a post office that has at least 6 windows for clerks. I know the postal service is financially hurting but that was totally uncalled for, does anyone else have this problem in there towns. I know there is nothing we can do about it but venting is good sometimes let me know what you think...

I can believe that the post offices are hurting. With email, text messaging, online bill pay etc people are opting for these means rather than using snail mail. I went to the post office last week, and there was only one clerk. There was a person at the window, someone waiting on the side and one person in front of me, and I was in there for almost twenty minutes. I think companies sending out bills are the ones using the postal system most, but then again, many people opt for paperless statements, I know I do.

I didn't even think about the email and texts and online bill paying. Your right I guess the postal service is probably hurting. I guess we should be thankful that there is a clerk at all, since everything is automated now adays...

I know what your mean. It's the same here. I stood in line for the longest time just to mail a package.. I'm guessing it was was at least 40 mins. I had a young kid with me that was a bit antsy at the long wait.....can't blame him. the lady in front of me had a baby that she was holding. The wait seemed seemed so so long that I found myself thinking that I wished I'd gone to a smaller town where the service is much faster. I'm sorry you went you had to go thru this. I understand that there are tax cuts but enough is enough. We all are certainly paying enough in taxes. Doesn't matter...business is business. We deserve to be served in a timely and friendly manner. At the P.O. I was at...a woman came in just about as I was finally being called up. She had attitude all over her....not happy with her job but still...it should not be showing to the customers. We are already paying in the long waiting line due to lack of staff...why should the bad attitude be passed on t0 us as well?

At least you have a line to stand in, our post office closes everyday at 12:00 noon for lunch (and there is no clerk to wait on people), then they reopen at 1:00 pm. So I don't think they're hurting all that bad. And when they are finished with lunch, there is only 1 clerk to handle customers. It seems that the post office personnel receive special liberties. I've also heard that they are pushing Congress for "no mail delivery" on Saturday's. Have you heard about that? It's enough to make a preacher cuss.
