Hi rprashanth,
Welcome to mylot. I feel that you need to follow all the rules and regulations of mylot. If you obey them then your discussions will rock mylot. I think a single phrase cannot make sense in discussing a topic. You have started a discussion which is a very good topic but you need to submit proper information in the discussion.
Surely i agree with you that Pete Sampras is the best player all time. He had won 99% of the Grand slams he played. He is really a "King of the swing". He is all-time record breaker in single championship. I like his shots very much and i don't think that Andre Agassi would soon reach the rank. He is also the second best but i think Pete has too much of experience in swinging.
Keep smiling and happy mylotting :)

I think it is a desperately close race between rod laver and roger federer, whilst rod laver didnt win as many grand slams in total he did win them all in one year twice. Roger Federers recent performance at the french open certainly has put him in the history books. I think its safe to say Federer is the best ever tennis player not only due to his unbelievable performance in grand slams but his elegance and class on ccourt and his impecable etiquette on court.

I feel it is Rod Laver, the only person to have completed two grand slams in his career.Had he played throughout his career he would have collected many more trophies to his cupboard. But he did not participate from 1963 to 1968.Yet he managed to win 11 grand slam tournaments.

In my own opinion... Roger Federer had already surpassed Pete as The Greatest Tennis Player of All Time... He had broken all the records that Mighty Pete achieved not so long ago... & Roger has something that Pete doesn't have...'The Complete GrandSlam'
He won all surface in the Grand Slam, by winning the 'French Open 2009'. Now, to solidify Roger status as the greatest of all time... He need to break the tie for the most grand slam wins between him & Pete...at 14. Roger is still young and definitely achieve this in the coming grand slam events, Let's see if he can claim back his Wimbledon crown this year.
