Storing an opened jar of olives

Hello all. I (with great difficulty) managed to open a jar of black olives. This is only the second time I'm getting a big jar of olives home and wanted tips on storing it for atleast a couple of months. The last time, I kept the jar on the kitchen shelf and within three weeks, there was a growth of mold on the olives. I don't want that to happen this time so please please tell me how to store the jar. Should I refrigerate it?

They'd possibly last a couple of months if you stored them in the refrigerator. Anything in brine should last a lot longer if refrigerated.

Hi, olives need to be kept in a cool dark place well out of sunlight, same as olive oil which is usually kept in dark green bottles so less light penetrates.
