Sometimes we envy the rich and famous. The cost of a meal for them costs more than a week of our meals.
Their cars cost more than our house. Their designer goods cost more than our salary. They travel in style, and seem to enjoy golf and party while we work so hard in our cubicle.
Yet they do not enjoy the privacy that we have. The reporters twist their words, and protray them as tactless and speaks only to hurt others. Whenever they do something wrong, the reporters will exaggerate, and highlights their mistakes to all. Even their family members do not enjoy as much privacy as us.
Do you like to live like the rich and famous? Do you envy their lifestyle, despite knowing that they do not have as much privacy as us?

I really envy them but somehow wished that I wasn't them.
I would love to be rich but not famous. Rich but flaunt it. People who are rich here gets kidnapped. LOL
Being famous is a lot more. It's a big headache being famous. You have to be perfect at all times, if you're not, you'll be the talk of the town. Negative remarks will rain. Privacy is being invaded too. I hate that.

Hi Xanlui, I think there are many more rich people in your country who do not look "rich".
Some farmers are very rich. Nobody knows that they are rich, because they have no fancy cars, no big house, no party and they live far out in the countryside. They are rich because they do not have a chance to spend money.

I envy the rich part, yes. But I would rather not be famous. I'd like to be able to do whatever I want, when I want, and not have an entourage of papparazzi recording my every move.
I would be lying if I said I wouldn't like to have the money to travel the world and to buy whatever I want, regardless of the cost.

Hi Cobra, me too, I love to be rich, and envy them for spending money to buy what they want, knowing that there are still a lot of money in the bank.
I hate the "famous" part too. Rather to have no one watching me whenever I'm not sitting very gracefully. Sometimes sitting with the legs up is so comfortable! Can't imagine the rich and famous do that!

haha Cobra, fortunately you are not famous, and your husband is not running for the USA Presidential race.
That picture of yours will definitely create uproar, and kills any chance of your husband getting into White House.
It's true that we are so fortunate to live a carefree life, without need to watch over our shoulder.

On a Saturday morning, when I realize that hubby and I are out of something we use to make breakfast, I like to be able to just throw on gym shorts and a tank top, slide on flip flops and just go to the store quick. I look absolutely terrible, but no one cares! I don't end up with my picture in a dozen magazines, pointing out how terrible I look!
That would be something I would definitely not like if I was famous! LOL

Well I would love to be rich someday so I can provide for my family and it would be a lot easier for me to do so if I was rich. However I dont really want to be famous I woudnt like people coming up to me where ever I go. I mean first it would be cool then it would get annoying after awhile.

Hi Arcidy, same here, I want to be rich but not famous, can't bear to have reporters taking pictures of me in casual wears, and write about it for the whole world to see.
I think those rich and famous cannot afford to gossip about anyone or to quarrel with their family members in public. It's a shame. They can't even scold their children for misbehavior! The newspaper will report "xxx scolds his children in public", then all the nonsense about human rights, self-esteem etc.

I agree! I just want to have the rich part. I think being famous is a great advantage, cause you can help a lot of people and you have this kind of power. But having your life under a microscope is not at all fun.. I don't want to have people following me wherever I go..plus I have a short temper, so if I became famous I would probably be always on the front page of the tabloids, with a picture of me throwing a shoe or a bag to the cameramen. LOL!

haha Ingking, I bet all the newspaper will send reporters to follow you around, and to watch how you lose your temper.
Those reporters are very well-trained to make famous people lose temper. They just have to make up some rumors, or to misquote your words!
I bet your family members will really live as if they are in hell! Can't imagine the teasing your kids will suffer, whenever your pictures come out in the paper.

haha Canellita, maybe you can write an article about "how to live like the rich and famous, without being rich", I think this article will attract a few thousand page views per day!
I pity the rich and famous when they have problems, because the whole world will know about it.

Hi Deep, physically they live much better than us, who are not rich. But mentally, they face more stress. I can't imagine losing privacy, and to have reporters misquote everything you say.
It's true money can't buy love, but they can use money to buy things for their loved ones, best medical care for parents, best educational for the kids.
Money can buy knowledge. Rich guys can hire experts to give them one-to-one lessons, and advice.

Hi Wolfshah, welcome to mylot. I hope you can learn to write longer response to any discussion you join, because the system in mylot pays more for a longer post than for one-liner post.
If you write a hundred one-liner post in a day, you will still earn less than 4 longer posts (at least 7 liners).
Back to the discussion, many rich and famous do have clear conscience, and they sleep better than most of us. We worry too much, and that keeps us awake. But the rich and famous work hard, and enjoy career success.
Maybe when the media spreads all kind of gossips about them, then they have problem sleeping, but then they have lawyers to help them sue the media.

Some rich and famous people live in privacy.
They can afford it. Of course I want to be rich
someday. Hopefully so...hehehe. There's nothing wrong
with being famous but people sometimes forget that they
had a private lives too and that's one thing I don't want
to happen to me...

Hi Reckon, it is hard to live in privacy when they are rich and famous.
The reporters will always report on what they say (sometimes misquote them), and like to find out about the marriage, hopefully to find out another woman outside the marriage.
The rich and famous find it hard to live in privacy. They can only ensure that their children stay out of the limelight. Even then, I agree that it is good to be rich, and not too famous.

Hi Gunagohan, yes, I understand what you mean, you want to be rich enough to enjoy life, and not worry about money.
I share the same thoughts. Actually many Asians like to be rich, so that they can help their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren to have better lives. Sometimes it is in the culture to prepare for the future generations.

Hi bhabytart, if we experience the lifestyle of the rich, we will want to experience it forever. Hopefully experience only the "rich" but not the "famous", can't bear to have anyone writing about my pimples, freckles, awful dressing etc.
I like to enjoy meals in the expensive restaurant too!
And I like to install jacuzzi in my house! Let us dream on, someday our dreams will come true.

Can I just be rich but not famous?
In fact I always find the being famous is more bad than good because every move of you will be closely monitored and you will have to live under great pressure.
And about rich, I always think that I don't be so rich like billionaire. What I really envy is that I can have enough money for the things I want and that's enough. I don't really need to own a helicopter or a plane for my own. But it would be nice if I can take the business class when I need to travel by air. I hope you get the idea.

Hi Akila, sometimes I pity the rich and famous, especially when the reporters misquote their words, and spread all the rumors about them. In this sense, I think they are worse than those prisoners. At least the prisoners do not have freedom to move about, but they have freedom to speak whatever they like.
Those rich and famous do not have freedom to go everywhere out of sight of public, and do not have freedom to speak. All the words they say will end up somewhere in newspaper and magazines, and haunt them for a long time.
However, I do like the kind of money they are making.
Being rich is good, provided we can enjoy privacy as well.

Of course!!When I am rich enough.I will buy the best car, I will eat the best food, and of course, I will save that man who are poor, and I will build a buliding, it will be big enough to driving, playing basketball, swimming and doing more other things...but I don't want to famous, because after a person is famous, he will be fazed.

hi Jipohao, you are more ambitious than most of us.
Most of us love good food, but not many of us want to build such a big building.
It is good to be rich, so that we can buy what we want, and have the power to help people, but not good to be famous, there is no freedom for those guys living under the spotlight of the public.
It's very sad when rich and famous admits to hospital for a few days, and the reporters write all kind of speculative reports in the newspaper

Hi Stephenstreets, I think you will not like it when they take the worst pictures of yours. Sometimes we are thinking hard, and we look fierce or unhappy, and those reporters love to take all the ugly pictures.
I do not mind being rich, but do not like anyone to invade my privacy. I do not want anyone to disturb my neighbors and family too.

I would definitely like to be rich since you can always get anything you want whenever you want, and ironically enough it is the rich that get the most discounts when buying things. I would not like to be famous however and have paparazzi following me around, as their job involves invading other people's privacy and that is something I diagree with.

Hi South, some of the rich folks get many things free.
Those guys in the marketing department rather give free stuff to the rich, and they just hope the rich guy can say "thanks, this is a great product", so that they can say that so-and-so has the product and praise the product as "a great product".
And the rich enjoy better service than us. Nobody really care about what we think of the service, but a word from the rich, and everyone pays attention.

i would love to be rich for life to be a lot easier. Getting to eat out at five star restaurants once in a while. Being rich has a lot of benefits, you can travel to different places, u can have power which is almost always accompanied by money. but sometimes, your life can be endangered because of being rich. I don't like to be famouse for the very reason that i like my privacy.

Hi Orevro, actually the risk of being rich is very small. But the risk of losing privacy is almost guaranteed.
The rich and the poor have almost same risk when it comes to money. When the poor borrow money from the loanshark, they are risking the lives of their family members. When the poor live in high crime areas, they are risking the lives of their family members as well.
In a sense, the risk of getting killed because of being rich is so small.
I do want to be as rich as them, can spend money and enjoy life without worrying about the bills. Plus the power to give money to those who need it.

I wouldn't want to have the rich and famous fame, but I would like to experience their riches. It would be a pleasure to be able to buy something without having to look at the price tags. I would never go overboard, but it would be refreshing to be able to have some of the finer things in life without stressing over spending a dollar.
I enjoy my privacy, but these people knew when they decided to go into what ever made them rich and famous, that their privacy would no longer be theirs. So of them like the limelight, and will do things to keep them in it.

But I do not want anyone to judge me on what I say or do not say, how I dress or what I do. I enjoy privacy.

Hi jopak, it is very hard for the rich people to live a private life. When you start a company, and the company becomes as big as Walmart, everyone will want to know how you manage to do it.
And all the reporters will want to get a piece of the story, including where you go to buy grocery, how old are your cats and dogs etc.
There is no way to escape the attention.

Hi Vkakochu, most people want to be rich but not famous. They do not want everyone to invade their personal lives.
Money is not the root of evil. The love of money is, especially when people love money more than their family. Many poor people love money more than the rich. The billionaires who have tons of money will not love money, because they have so much, and they can afford to donate millions and millions away.
The poor who do not have much money love money, sometimes family member commit murder to get insurance money.
Most people do not want to be famous. They do not want people to follow them around, and report in the newspaper what they eat, what they wear, what they say, and spread all kind of rumors about them. They do not want their children to end up in newspaper too.

Hi Radslik, welcome to mylot. It is good to be rich, so that we do not have to worry about money anymore, and can provide for our family.
Being famous is really bad if the media keeps invading our privacy. And the media likes to write about gossips, rather than about fact.
Whatever the rich and famous do is never enough. If one rich guy donates a million dollars. The next rich guy will have to donate more, otherwise people will write bad comments, say that he is selfish.
