You tube comments- what do you think?

hello friends.. i often visit youtube. it is one of my favourite sites. i read comments for all the videos i watch and i get disappointed with some abusive comments. they not only comment on the videos but also about other's comments. They literally argue and quarrel with each other. people can mark the abusive content as spam. But the point is why quarrel and use filthy languages where the whole world can read them. The comment box to give your own opinions about the video, song, artist or whatever. it is unpleasant to read abusive comments about others view.Do you think it is their freedom to write anything they want? or is it unruly to post comments which is filthy where everyone could read it. do you think decency matters when you post public comments?

I watch alot of piano tutorials in youtube and some times you'll see people commenting how the person making the video isnt any good at teaching and all that ignorant stuff. I have allways lived by the motto, if you dont have anything nice to say, dont say anything. Personaly, I find I have learned more piano / keyboard technique from people that have alot of bad comments than ones with every comment being a praise to thier playing and style. With racism running rampant around the world you will see absive people everywhere, what I'd like to know is how they got to the page without searching for it, were they just looking for people to harrass or were they looking for something they liked. saw a similar vid by somebody they didnt like and go to it just to comment?? It's really just stupid and pointless to throw negative coments on youtube , is really serves no purpose other than to show the world your ignorance and predjudace.

you are absoultely right. they do not think how it will hurt the uploader before commenting. negative comments should hurt anyone.. thanks for your comments

they should realize that it is unnecessary and pointless to argue and insult others. and stop acting like animals!

You are right. Some of the comments I read on Youtube.com are just insulting and unnecessary. Why do people feel the need to act like idiots or at least show their lack of common decency. I'm sure there is a forum where people can act like idiots but youtube.com is not the place. Have some respect people.

I have thought the very same thing. And YES decency matters. Those who post these kinds of comments are showing just how ignorant they are. I mean that literally...they do not have sense...they know very little and must express themselves in a base manner. I do not always agree with the videos or ideas expressed in them and often say so. But I give reasons and do so in an intelligent manner. I think that this problem is one indicator of the decay of society.

i agree with you. they take it as a freedom to express whatever they like. they write worse than illiterates. you are absolutely right, this indicates the destroying society. thanks for the comment

I think that's ridiculous. The comments that people post on these things are so rude, abrasive, and just generally uncalled for. I think that there should be an "abuse" button on youtube, and if you "abuse" a certain number of times, your account should be deleted. I think it has to hurt the person who posted the video when people act like idiots.

you are right, either people should post decent comments or youtube should cancel their account. They should have some guidelines to follow.

I agree with the comments, most of them are hateful, filthy, racist, xenophobic, comments. I wish there were more youtube moderators to ban those trolls, and make youtube a better place for everyone.

Of course! I am one of these persons who still think that the decency matters a lot (even online).I wonder what could happen if everybody starts acting like if they were in a lawless land when they are online.I think everything we need is just a bit of respect to the people of another countries.why? because I ve seen people getting insulted on YouTube because they write in spanish, japanese or anyother language

you are right. i also come across comments insulting people from other countries. it is like as if they do not have any rights to comment. some people feel comfortable expressing in their own language. i hate when they disrespct that. i wish they change it at some point. thanks for sharing.

Yes there are lots of abusive and nasty comments being posted on youtube videos. Not just youtube but there are lots of other sites where there are such comments being posted. The true nature of people and what is in their mind reflects on such sites. They do not have guts to say even 25% in reality of what they say on such sites. Sometimes one cannot avoid the temptation of replying back to their nasty comments in the same manner.

It is unpleasant and sometimes, from a third person's point of view, it's quite amusing :D I think YouTube is simply giving its members the liberty to express themselves in any manner that they could. They're not there to police our reactions, they're simply giving us a chance to post a video, share it and be subject to the comments of the rest of the world. If somebody didn't want any harsh comments on his/her video, why post it for public viewing? It's not a critique group, it's YouTube! Thanks for the response on my discussion :)

thanks for the comment. i wish they just cancel their accounts. just like orkut scrapping, youtube should have the option on who should comment. i think the one who uploads the video have the option to block others from commenting.i see some videos that do not have the option to comment. so in a way , it is good. the aspiring singers , musicians or online tutors post their videos for the viewers to comment. That helps them to improve. the viewers post abusive and dirty comments, which i feel so sad about the person who uploaded the video. i hope they realize that and use decent and appropriate comments.

Sadly, that's the reason why i gave my account away because i just can't stand stupid and hate comments like that.I think Anonymously in youtube is the reason why such comments exist, i mean even though the person is deleted, he/she can still create a new account. i heard rumors of people making one or two more accounts in there..True nature of the Human Race is seen on youtube.

I often read the comments and decide whether the video is worth watching or not for all the good videos have nice comments but the bad ones have bad contents mostly with vulgar language.I would like some decency in comments

Sometimes it's fun to watch arguments, because people get so excited and furious towards each other while arguing, they say lot of funny and stupid things. On the other hand, lots of people use foul language, and while the YouTube is a public site, it disturbs me. Many children visit that site, so their little minds are exposed to such dirty language, it's just not right.

I have a youtube account and I post vids of my own there and watch the vids of others. I do read the coments and have made soem coments myself. but I do feel that persons have the right to say what they like but for the porpose of decoum they can be polite and respectfuly of the user or vid they are commenting on. there is no need for explict langage when some more creative words is in order.

Well, I do agree that everyone had the freedom to write what they feel. However, to the point where they use abusive and vulgar language, I do not agree on the use of such languages. Even though you may want to express your opinion, I think you should still respect the others, and not post of such languages. In addition, anyone may be reading these comments, including kids, and I don't really think it's proper for kids to be exposed to such languages. In addition, I also do not like those comments whereby they tell all the interesting parts of the story in their comments. Some people like to read the comments before watching the video and it really takes half the fun and surprise away from viewers.

Its great for one so that he can get a idea of the video before streaming. It is very important from my point of view.

do you think vulgarity should be used to get an idea of the video? it is ok to give negative comments, but the visitors argue with each other and uses vulgarity which i feel is not decent. thanks for commenting

I was wondering too, like why youtube ain't doing anything to filter those comments. But perhaps there are just too many comments to filter with so many videos around on the site. Sometimes I love to watch videos there and just enjoy myself to what is being showcased but I don't understand why some of the commentators fight with one another over some menial remarks or comments. But there are rating buttons besides the comment. I suppose if there are too many negative ratings, the user can be banned from commenting? Perhaps. Otherwise, I wouldn't know what the rating sign there is for.

Abusive comments can be deleted by the uploader of the video, so maybe pm the uploader. Having said that, I do go back to fave videos to read the comments. It's part of the youtube experience.
