Hubby and I just found a really good deal on airline tickets to Cancun. Like the last minute planners we are we are thinking about taking advantage of cheap airfare and having a belated honeymoon in Cancun. I don't know hardly anything about the different areas in Cancun so I need advice. Here is my line of questions for you all:
Where are the areas to avoid?
What are the can't miss places in Cancun?
Should we rent a car or is public transportation good enough?
We are thinking about staying in the Radisson in Downtown Cancun (we can get a room deeply discounted). Is downtown Cancun a good area to stay? Is downtown hip and happening or scary?
I'm sure I'm missing some questions. These are just the ones at the top of my head right now. If you all have anything to add please do. Thanks!

Downtown Cancun will have cheaper accommodation than the beach area. Playa de Carmen is a beach resort that is easily reached by bus from the international airport. Public transport in that area of Mexico is great. I went by bus down to Belize and Guatemala on my trip. It was one of the best trips I have been on. Talum was my first stop and the Mayan ruins there were really touristy. I hope that you and your husband will have a lovely belated honeymoon in Cancun.
