He blew a kiss to his mom, and now he doesn't get his diploma. WTH! We have kids beating up other kids for their shoes. We all have the tragedy of Columbine floating in our memories and hundreds of other horrible things going on in the world. Why punish this kid. In my view what he did was harmless. He wasn't harassing or hurting ANYONE. Just sick.

Superintendent is sick. Kiss for the mother should be rewarded not punished.
Those rules are crazy. However made those rules in school has big ego and dictator personality....such a nonsense...poor kid...hope the issue is going to be solve the right way...

Yeah, I read that and I to think it is selfish of the principal to do this. I hope he get fined for what he did and maybe have to pay for a years college..now that would be good but we know that won't happen. He will probably just be forced to give the diploma and go on his merry way. It is so mean to do this to him on his special day. Come on it is just a kiss that he blew to his mom..that says hey mom I love you for giving me this opportunity to walk across this stage and come out the other end a man.

I know. These schools have some REALLY stupid rules these days. Students can no longer hug students. What's up with that??? It's all just ridiculous. And you're right. We have more important things to worry about than students hugging each other or blowing kisses. Our world today just makes me sick.

The world is ate up and so corrupted these days. They put too much emphasis on harmless things like this when they should take more time and deal with the things that are the bigger issues. I see no harm in it at all either.

Yes, this is seriously stupid. The guy should be sued immediately. It was an innocent kiss and that too to his mom.... Plus its his day. he;s getting graduated, he has the right to do pretty much what he wants, blow kisses to whosoever. What's the superintendent got to do with anything. Stupid moron.

That is just ridiculous. All he did was blow a kiss to his mom and the school would not let him have his diploma. What high school is that? I will know never to send my kids to that high school. What where those people thinking? We live in such a violent world, and if you cannot give your own mother a kiss, then what can you do?

I think i would go read the laws the have at the school than go to a good lawyer and rip a new a-s for who did it to the poor kid.

First of all if the student is 18 and is graduating then the superindendant is illegally with holding the diploma it is not legal for them to do this. At graduation they cease to be students. It is not wrong to blow a kiss of affection to one's family. Sounds like a power mad super. I suspect the person will get fired. Legally they have to give the diploma which is earned and paid for by taxpayer dollars and students 18 and older are not legally subjected to those type of rules anyway. My daughter a few years back was told a lot of things until she sent and go her ACLU handbook and carried on campus whereever she went, she was 19 and they tried to tell her she could not do this or that. She just pulled her handbook out and quoted the laws. They demanded we send excuse notes for her if she was absent or tardy and I told them she was over 18, had a job, paid rent and we had no legal authority over her the day she turned 18. They knew it was true. They tried to pull this diploma garbage to with one of my sons and did not get away with it. He was 19 also and told them either give the diploma or face a lawsuit and the media. They decided to give the diploma.

That is funny to note indeed. Just a simple flying kiss is ground for him not to receive his diploma. I guess the school board should start reviewing their silly policies about that and get more serious offenses that kids may do. It is harmless indeed and some kind of funny for the officials who see these simple gestures offensive to them.

I can see if he was disrupting the ceremony but just b/c he blew a kiss to his mom is crazy. All this withholding diploma's is going to eventually lead to kids not bothering to attend their own graduation which would be a shame.

i saw this lastnight.. this just makes me soooo upset. i know that they signed a paper for conduct, but blowing a kiss to his mother. i am sorry but i would have that superintendents job if that were my kid.. that is just totally wrong. you go to school for that long work as hard as some of these kids do for what to be humiliated in front of everyone for a gesture to your mother.. how rediculous is that..i think she was just uptight because they had some kids pull out beachballs and she was ticked off about that..i guess that is why some kids refer to school as prison..lol.. i knew we did when i was in school. i hope that that lady rememebers this for the rest of her life as "the day i messed my career up."

That's too bad. Clearly, he did nothing all that bad. Still as the principle pointed out...he did know the rules and he challenged them. I'm sure he'll get his diploma and he did graduate....he'll just have to go back and pick it up. Am I agreeing with the system? NO! It's graduation....it is to be expected. I think they could have and should have let it slide. If I were running the school...i'd have let it go.

I believe that he should get his diploma. The school does not know who he is blowing the kiss too. They might be thinking that he is blowing a kiss to girlfriend and they might not think that was right but I dont think no matter who he was doing it to he should not be punished. I think that is just stupid. Maybe the mom had helped him out is his high school career. He might only have one parent in his life. Not really sure why they did it but I think it is stupid.

I agree with you. WTF is up with the world? The last time I checked blowing your mother a kiss when you graduated wasn't an excuse for them to withhold your diploma. I don't understand what these people could have been thinking. I hope he sues them for a lot of money. It would serve them right for being so stupid.

I read that and was totally disgusted by that principal. Acknowledgment to the person that helped you get to your sucess... and diciplined for it?!! What's this world coming to? And all you hear is "parents get in volved", "parents be there for your kids", "parents mentor your kids"... etc etc etc.... and then they do and the kid gets in trouble for it! Parents do SO MUCH for the kids while in school... help with homework, pay for a ton of "extras", volunteer, pitch in, contribute, donate... yet when all is said and done... apparently all this school cares about is... apparently nothing... as I am sure this principle is not anyone favorite person today and the rest of the parents in the school are sure going to look down on her.. she sure has lost her status and that is going to make it hard for her to keep things on a happy note within the school...and all over a student being respectful to their parent....makes you just want to give the student a hub... right in front of that disgusting principle! I know there has to be rules and conduct... but good grief.. a small kiss to the hand action...one that probably as many DIDn't see as did? That principle has far to much idle time on her hands...mainly cause the parents are doing such a good job with their children/students that there must not be anyting for the principle to do!!!

I caught this on the news last night...The superintendent needs to be fired immediately. When did showing ones parents love and appreciation, in a socially acceptable way, become "wrong"? Will we also be attentive when the family sues the school district? because that's the only recourse they may have... What happens to this kids collegiate aspirations?

This is really disturbing! On what grounds are the college principle taking action on? Is that a crime to blow kiss to someone? This is too much for the kid himself! Can't his parents meet the higher authority like Ministry of Education or something?
