My son is two years old. I find his 18 month to 2 years old clothing is too small for him. His 2 to 3 years clothing is too big for him. His trousers can be too tight and far too short or they fall off and are way too long. When he was younger he used to wear dungarees but at his age few are available for sale in the shops.
How do you get on buying clothes for your kids?
Do their clothes fit well?

We go through spells in which their clothes fit very well and other times in which they are too large in the waste to be long enough to fit.. It is a struggle sometimes but I am fortunate to be able to find the adjustable waist pants and that helps them to fit better

I used to have to buy older kids clothes for mine. The trouble is, there are so many different sized and shaped kids at one age, the manufacters have to work on an average size for each age. Therefore, they don't all fit the way they should. However, most have the height measurements on the label and if you're aware of your child's height, then life is made a little easier. As for trousers, if they're a bit too big, they're better, as they grow into them. I used to put a little tuck in the sides of my boys' trousers or shorts when they were a little big, letting the tucks out as they grew into them. It saves a lot of money that way.
Brightest Blessings.

Usually I will buy the clothes and trousers which are a little bigger size than my son's present size. As children always grow up so fast. If you buy the clothes which fit your children well, I am afraid they can not be worn for a long time. Besides, a little loose clothes may be much more comfortable.
I love China

I have encountered that same problem as you do now. I think we can call it that kids do get into this "in between" thing. It is so hard to find clothes for their age and the next size is way too big for them too. I often end up getting the bigger size then have it fixed by these sewer who is so good at alterations.Yes, good thing we have this sewer near my neighborhood who does just that, alterations.

My son is the same. He is around 30 months old. Sometimes he can fit in 18 month old clothes and sometimes he has to have 2t. But its getting harder. So I mainly buy rompers. Dont know if I spelled it right. But its like a onesie but it looks more like shorts and a shirt connected together. Its real cute and they fit him perfect. I think those are 2t as well.

I buy short pants for older kid as long pants for my baby, and next year it could be long pants for my baby. But for top,if it'not too short too loose or too tight,i think, that is ok for me.
