I find this totally ridiculous!!!If he were my child, I'd be finding a lawyer to sue the principal!!! Unless there is something that is NOT explained here (God knows the press wouldn't do that) then the principal has lost his freaking mind!!! What would you do if this happened to your graduating Senior??? He had obviously done the work to graduate!!!

That is just so not fair. I would be getting a lawyer also. Must be a strict school that won't any show of emotion or affection or even a kiss..that is just nuts and I think it is time for a new principal I mean he was excited and proud and heck I would blown a kiss too.

I know they have to set some boundaries so things don't get out of hand, but I found this totally ridiculous!!! My first thought was she did it to set an example. But she should have given him his diploma maybe after the ceremony.

Give me a break!! That principal/school board should be sued... a kiss to his mom.. a sign of love and thankfulness.. Graduation is a time for celebration, and well some times things get crazy.. But a kiss, should not be a reason for a student not to receive their diploma.. I hope that student gets their diploma and a public apology to the whole senior class for making drama during their big day.. That is suppose to be the students first day to the rest of their lives.. What a heck of a way to start it... If that was to happen to my son, darn straight there would be some heads rolling... He earned the degree the rest should have just been overlooked.

I agree with you 5,000 percent!!! If he had done a back flip on the stage, I might could have seen it. But he was respecting his Mom...a quality I find impressive!!!

This isn't the first time that rambunctious (dare we say "fun"?) behavior affected a graduation ceremony at Bonny Eagle. "Four years ago we had some issues with silly string and beach balls," said Lukas (school superintendent). Now the silly string thingy could have been disruptive, but a kiss blown to Mom???? I just don't see the problem!!!

That's carrying the rules too far.
When my son graduated they were told not to do any shenanigans onstage since it was a big class and it wasn't fair to hold up the others with delays. Mostly, the kids cooperated. But it's an exciting time for kids, the beginning of their real lives!
On the other hand, why can't kids obey the rules?
I don't agree with the principal. But I wouldn't sue him, as long as my son got his diploma.

That's where I have a problem. He refused to give the kid his diploma. I hope the school board over rules the principal & gives the kid the diploma he earned. What did blowing a kiss to his Mom hurt??? Since a Dad wasn't mentioned, Mom probably raised him all by herself & worked hard to put him through school. Who would ever dream that a diploma would be held hostage for a slight infraction??? I see the kid as showing respect to his Mom NOT disrespect to the rules.

LadyM,
What right has he to do that to the student, I think this principal should get a life, he was not doing anything wrong, just blowing a kiss to his mother, I can't believe it, what sort of school is that?

Seems that it's one that thinks students should have NO rights!!!

If he had tongued his girlfriend on stage, I could agree with the decision. But he didn't. He thanked his mother for supporting him!!!

That is ridiculous...they are kids, they are graduating, if a kid can't blow a kiss..what can he do. A young man got kicked out of one of the local graduations a few years back when he flashed his Superman costume underneath his gown and several kids got removed for bouncing a beach ball.
The school had nearly a 1000 graduates...we needed the humor.
I am not saying the graduation should be a circus but they should lighten up!

That is absolutely ridiculous. There has got to be more to the story. If not, if it's just the kid blowing a kiss then I hope the principal is seriously reprimanded. How awful for that student. The day he's worked so hard for - ruined over a kiss. Well not even an actual kiss-just a blown kiss. If I were his mom I'd be freaking 20 ways from Sunday.

Since this isn't his first time acting crazy, I don't think there could be much more. If the kid had disrespected anyone, maybe I could see it. But he didn't!!!

oh gosh. how can a kiss ruined his chances of getting a diploma? there's got to be something more to the story than that. unless the principle specifically told the students that no blowing a kiss or whatever, but it's still way too strict.
I agree, the graduate obviously worked very hard to graduate and now all his work is gone because of a single kiss. can the school even do that? not give him a diploma, i mean.
The world is getting crazier and xrazier these days...
