Abandoned Cats

Our neighbors have a cat, and for several days he has been at our door trying to get in. He actually pushed the window screen in, and came inside the other night! We could tell he hadn't eaten in a while, so we put some food out for him. Yesterday, he showed up at our door again, and his leather collar had been taken off. We know it couldn't have broken off, so we are sure someone's aboandoned him. I can't understand why someone would just drop a cat, especially after it had been with them for so long. If they couldn't take care of him anymore, why didn't they look for someone else to take him?

I do hate irresponsible pet people. Is it possible for you to take in this poor boy? I wish him good luck. He knows a good place to come to.

I dont understand it...why people will just ditch a pet rather than find a decent home for them...or take them to the humane society or even a vet. Someone dropped a mommma cat off here this spring...I saw her a couple times and she had kittens. I know they are around the farm now because i catch glimpses of them and i feed them but i just dont understand why she was just dumped other than i know people around here know im a sucker for a hungry animal and i wont let one starve that id take it to the humane society if i couldnt keep it. I've adopted strays and pets from the humane society as well as purchased a puppy (shes special i actually got her from my parents and the money i paid for her went into my youngest sisters college fund)

A abandoned cat is pathetic. How did his host do that.especially it spent a long time with them.Just like a little people of family have emotion.and just drop him away.how horrible it is.can you imagine when a cat have no place to go away.just like a abandoned baby.if you like it maybe you can keep it .can you?

That's really sad! If you can't take care of your cat anymore, it's time to bring it to a shelter. My dog was a stray dog. A friend and I, and her mom found the dog. He was found with a bunch of burrs in his mouth, and his fur was very matted. We put out signs to try to find the owners but no one called. My friend's mom had adopted lots of stray pets over the years and from her experience, she though this dog was abused. Very sad! I'm glad I was able to adopt him though. My dog is my best friend.

I'm not sure why people do that. there was a little kitten out on my front deck last night and it was whining. People drop off animals around here all of the time. I am not a cat lover but I felt so sorry for the cat. there is no animal control around here either so it continues.

Some people should be shot for doing this to a defenseless creature. I hope he has found new humans in you. It sounds like he is trying to adopt you.

There can be several reasons why someone is so irresponsible to abandon any animal, not the least of which is money. I do not understand people like this. They probably should not have a cat in the first place. I hope and pray you do take the cat in and give it a good home. There are way too many cruel stories about animals in the news every day and the world needs a lot more people to be kind to them and value their lives, not just think of them as something they can throw away.

Hi Bd200789, What a shame, the poor little cat, those people who owned the cat should be made tp pay a heavy fine for abandoning the cat, IU hate people like that. plese look after the cat or if you can't take it to the animal shelter and maybe they will find a loving home for the cat. I have two cats and love them to bits, they are my babies. Tamara

I hear this all the time! People do this for all the wrong reasons! Thry think the cat can make it on its on. People don't think a humane society is the right place because they think the animal will be put down! People are just lazy and stupid! If the cats owners were moving and couldn't take the cat they should of tried to see if someone would take the cat in! People don't think and don't care about their pets! So many people think animls have no feelings! They are wrong! Animals have feelings! We should abandon people who abandon animals and see how they like it! Maybe then they would learn and not do this!

I'm not sure what kind of people does that. I hate my neighbor. He has chicks on his backyard and but he often lets them lose, he knows there's a cat in the neighborhood, you can't just put that cat on the cage and look after him where ever he goes. He was often mad about the it, one day he was so pissed, he cut both of the cat's front paw. I was so furious to see him laughing while he's doing it. He is sick! How could he enjoy the pleasure of seeing something suffering. Luckily the cat survived but he's crippled...

If you think they knew that you or someone else fed the cat they might have thought to give up on it,I don't know some peoples kids. We had more than once people dropping there kittens and puppies they didn't want at the end of my parents driveway when I was young. my dad had to get rid of them because we couldn't keep them.

people can be stupid. some still turn them loose instead of finding them homes. housecats don't always know what to do when they're dumped.some go feral, but not all of them. then you get the smart ones who seek out a new human themselves.. i've gotten a few like that.

Last year, there was a cat that hung around my house. I finally took her in for the winter so that she would not freeze. Her owners had moved and left her behind. She now is mine and does not even leave the yard. I don't understand how people can be so heartless.

It is so sad to see that. I am an animal lover. All my pets have been rescued from a shelter. My dog was abused in his other home. He is now very happy and loved. I have a similar cituation right now also. Next door to me they have adult cats that they refuse to get fixed. They are outside cats. The female had kittens a couple months ago and now they are wandering the neighbourhood. My daughter brought one in my home and I found it had ringworm She took it out right away and called the humane society. Well the cats are still there and nothing was done. It is very frustrating. If you want to adapt your visitor I would take him/her to the vet asap and make sure he/she is healthy. Good Luck.
