Today i was very disheartened to learn about a retreat center being closed down in one of the states of my country......There is a priest called father Jerry who had started a retreat center called the divine retreat center, Mulky the prayers and retreats were held in English and some local languages......but now the bishops and the other church leaders have asked for a transfer of Fr.Jerry and according to the rules he still has one more year to go......
Insiders say that the retreat center that Fr.Jerry had built is now worth around 20 crores and hence the priests are playing all kinds of politics and putting all the blame on Fr.Jerry. they have appointed another priest there who is a junior of Fr.Jerry and are in the process of transferring all the bank accounts in his name soon......the people have now pretested and the retreat center is now shut for a while......
Why don't the bishops and the church leaders don't allow anyone to do anything......why do they always come in the way of someone doing something good.....this is just one story there are so many such stories to narrate....the best example is about the life of padre pio.....there too the church leaders brought obstacles in his way.....why are they so hungry for power......in my country they are more interested in running schools/colleges rather than spreading the word of god......which should be their prime focus.......
Please give some constructive responses on this issue........

Nice discussion John...........I am not a roman catholic...And so with due respect I should not comment on things on which I have a very little idea...But it is certainly a terrible incident...
But in my opinion, people are getting more complicated nowadays..Politics,which is even more dirty in nature, are in each and every sphere of our life....Say for example,it is there when we are in school, college or university, working place or even in family or in friend circle.
So,the main solution is to get accustomed with all of this and to expect things which are unexpected.

Tuyakiki...I certainly respect you for the comments you have made.."the fact that since you are not Catholic, you withhold from commenting"....God Bless You! You are the first person I've seen in these discussions who has not ripped apart the Catholic Religion when they don't know too much about it. You are certainly a respectful person, and I thank you! More people should be like you!

John, I have read the story of Padre Pio also...great book...but the church, whether roman catholic or some other religion, has to be careful when they hear of miraculous things going on. They have to investigate it to be sure that whatever happens to a person does come from God, and not something that the person has done to themselves. Let's face it, there are people out there that would do crazy things on their own to get attention. Yes, it may seem that the church gave him a hard time, but in the end, he did win out...He is now "Blessed Padre Pio", and on his way to Sainthood (I don't believe that has been approved as yet). There are many steps to Sainthood - the last step is having another miracle happen in someone's life due to the intervention of Padre Pio. When that happens, and they investigate and proove that it is a miracle, he will be promoted to Sainthood. Who knows, this may have happened already, because I haven't kept in touch with his story.
What may look like politics, may actually not be. To proove otherwise we would have to live at the Vatican, or live as a priest to understand why the church does what they have to do. In my case, I don't worry about all these things.. I go to church for God, and I leave all the rest up to the hierarchy. Every religion has them.

I agree with what you say, but i find that our catholic church is too bureaucratic......why don't they just believe........the bible clearly says that "happy are those who believe without seeing"......there are so many such miracles which goes unnoticed because of this behavior of the catholic church......ill tell you some thins, there is a retreat center around my town and follows Catholic Charismatic way of worship(which most of the priests and church members don't like) and during one of the retreats when the priests was celebrating mass and when he raised the cup blood started flowing out of the cup and fell on the floor and clothes on the alter, they have still preserved those clothes there.......but then the So called church authorities denied a miracle, but who really cares the people who were there knew what had happened.....such things do make a person feel that the church is jealous and is not accepting a miracle......
Then there is a lady who says around 20 rosaries in a day........and during one such meetings when she took the holy communion it turned into flesh and blood was flowing out of her mouth.,.......as usual the church did not accept it.....till when will the church deny the work of god......during Jesus time also it were those high priests and clergy who had said that Jesus is not the real son of god and that he is not the messiah......but in the end Jesus proved all of them wrong......
But i also did not leave my faith......i am happy just like you as i go to church to meet Jesus and have nothing to do with these priests, but somewhere my blood boils to see when something so obvious is not let out into the open and is hidden from the people saying it is unreal......
But all we can do is pray.......

You can't just go off and blame the Catholic church about playing politics. I've seen a lot of the same stuff going on in Protestant denominations, you just don't hear about it because the media doesn't cover it as much.
Take heart--what you're hearing about is only a minority of clergy. The vast majority of Catholic clergy are faithful to the word of God and using the Church to spread the word wherever it needs to be spread.

Somewhere you are right......Roman Catholics are a majority(atleast in my country) and people know Christians mostly as Catholics........but my problem is why do priests have so much of attitude......they just wont do things if you are not in good terms with them.....i don't attend youth meetings as most of the time more than prayers they are interested in organizing picnics and dance festivals......i am not against it.....but what about prayers and spiritual growth aren't priest suppose to give us some spiritual feeding......most of the youths in my church don't even know how many gospels are there in the bible......yes there are some priests and clergy that does the work of god......but overall i don't feel they count.....
