our Yoga teacher is on vacation for a week. So we have a sub and she is really working us, it's hard but I wish she would stick around for a couple of months, we would get in much better shape. Half way through the class today i had to quit, I was soaking wet and just couldn't do more today, but if I had 6 weeks I might be able to get through a whole class with this teacher. Do you ever have something you have to do but it makes you want to continue just to show yourself you can do it?

Yes, I do have that kind of determination and need to affirm to myself that I can indeed do a certain thing I want to master. With FM, I have learned that if I pace myself, I will get there :D Karen

Yoga is a good exercise. In ancient India the sages practiced Yoga as prayer and to protect them from the wild beasts. There is no need of teacher to practice Yoga.If you know the technique you yourself can practice Yoga. If you get Indian Yoga teacher that will bwe better.

Here in the US Yoga is often taught as an exercise course. Of course in some of the big cities you can find Indian teachers who teach authentic Yoga. What I do is a combination of Ti Chi and Yoga with a little aerobics thrown in. Nothing spiritual about it, just exercise.

Hi, Pat! I'm having a similar thing. I vowed that I'd spend the length of a video each day exercising my butt off, quite literally. I'm not doing exercise videos; I'm watching movies I never got a chance to see. That's generally 90 minutes or more. I hate every minute of it, but I'm determined. I'm also dieting like crazy. The first week, I lost a little over 7 pounds, and I'll weigh again Saturday. I find the weigh-ins to be discouraging if I do it every day. I was getting new tires today, and the cashier asked me if I've lost a lot of weight lately, because there's room for another person in my clothes. If that's not reason enough to find my hair soaked with sweat, I can't imagine what is! It's not enough to make me like it, though!

I hate to diet, but it is always a great reward when someone notices.

I felt a bit like that with the freelance journalism course I did a couple of years ago. I was enjoying it immensely until I got to a particularly time consuming assignment and, because I was working outside the home while studying, it was tough. I came very close to giving up but persevered because writing means too much to me and like you, I had to prove to myself that I could indeed accomplish this, and I did!

Hi savypat, We got to the point where we couldn't afford to hire someone to plow our driveway in winter, so me and hubby do it ourselves. Our driveway is 320 or so feet long, at first I was apprehensive. But little by little, and taking several coffee and snack breaks, we'd get it done. Many times he'd go on to work, and I'd continue the feat. When I was finished I felt gratificaton of saving $$$, and also the physical exertion ( I took it slow) is a health benefit. Plus I slept like a bambino, lol. I bet you will too tonight! Congrats on your Yoga accomplishments!
